I mean, did you really think I would wait ? Come on... (I was faithfull so I got myself some G.SKILL ram again, the exact same specs to, and everything worked fine with the 1.00.22 beta soft) And it was perfect.

Today, I plug back my new ram, so I have 48 GB of ram now, go figure what I'll do with that BUT - Beware friends... because the events that will follow still fill me with dread and horror...
With more than 2 sticks at once (I say that because, until now everything worked like heaven), the G.SKILL RGB soft went nuts again and crashed 4 of my 6 sticks, on the spot. I guess you can pretty much imagine the reverse smile that was tearing my face apart... And you can almost taste my tears...

But you now what ? I'm a man, so I cried like a man and then I searched the internet with hope, like a man.
And I think I found a definitive fix, where I never should have.

I downloaded ASUS aura (you know, the soft from which G.SKILL inspired its own) and guess what, even though I have 0 ASUS hardware on my computer, the software launched and the ram sticks INSTANTLY worked and synced, without bug.
I mean... Holly molly WTF right ?

So, let's check if it was just dumb luck or if we can finally put this whole story behind us !

Uninstall everything G.SKILL has provided you with (and every ASUS related programs that come with the software installation, generally found in program files x86 as AsLed etc...), reboot your computer, install the ASUS soft and try to start it. It might fail at first, you might need to reboot everything to force its hand (I didn't have to, it went on automatically without reboot).

    Use this link :

    https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards...Desk_Download/

    -select your OS
    -select the utilities category
-download the second version : Aura Version 1.04.42

And for the love of god, please, tell me if it worked for you has well !

(Oh and because we're not holding grudges, wait for the release of the final G.SKILL version of the software, not a beta one, so they don't feel that bad about it...)

This actually worked, after 3 months of giving up decided to try and fix it again. Thank you good sir. I suggest everybody attempt this if they're having problems..

What would be the consequence of using two 8 gb sticks (out of a quad channel kit) of the Trident Z RGB 3200c14, and combining them with a dual channel kit of the exact same ram? Would the performance be the same as when using all four sticks from the quad channel kit? How about the lighting? Considering the software is so buggy right now, I have no problem just using the default rainbow pattern.

    Thanks.

And you have to pay for the shipping to send your RAM back to G.Skill for RMA.

I even put the stick into my brothers intel system to see if it would default rainbow in his system and it did not. The stick has gone completely dark and I had done no changes in my system to have caused this. Windows recognizes the stick and boots but there is no LEDS whatsoever. The LEDS were running fine since early May until this sudden failure. I probably have to RMA don't I?

Well it looks more an open alpha (which should be closed) than beta software in the current state, and that should happening month before release, not after.

About not using other led software, it's not really fair. I took a look where i got the kit, they are clearly talking of a software customizable RGB ram. They never said I will have to give up all other RGB hardware because of software incompatibilities. I bought trident Z RGB to make something looking great together, along with RGB motherboard, waterblocks and more. It’s not what I have right now and I don’t know if this will change.
I hope g.skill will state about the near future of that incompatibility soon, and not just giving us the message “maybe it will work, one day, if you are lucky” than we have since months.

If you've tried deleting the temp folder G.Skill tech mentioned it *should* get rid of that error message. Now if you've manually deleted the g.skill folders/files from C:\Program Files\* instead of using the uninstaller you will have issues with your Windows registry which you will have to resolve manually. Also check your Windows processes to make sure lightningservice.exe (or whatever other LED controller app you've installed on top of the G.Skill LED controller app) - make sure that's all shutdown!

My motherboard is a MSI z270 Gaming Pro carbon.
The motherboard and the ram are good together, but not the MSI lighting app and the g.skill rgb app together. I would have buy an Asus motherboard instead as it seems to be better, but now it's a bit late as I already bought expensive waterblock for my Msi motherboard.
Oh you meant software - I was apprehensive at first about using the app as it's still in Beta but it also states specifically not to use any other LED controller software:

"The software will conflict with other LED lighting control software (such as ASUS Aura, Gigabyte Fusion, MSI Command Center/Mystic Light, NZXT CAM, etc.). Please do not install both software at the same time, or there may be software conflicts. We will be working in future versions to improve compatibility between the different software programs." - http://gskill.com/en/download/view/t...control--beta-

I don't know if the reseller would do a refund anyway because of a software issue I would still check with them first as that would probably be the easier route for a refund or exchange.

I probably wait too long for refund by reseller (i think it's 15 days in my country).

I could borrow some ram to RMA my two trident RGB sitcks if g.skill doesn't allow to RMA one of a two sticks kit. However some people already have to RMA it 3 times, that's not verry encouraging to be honest.

    @BillB
Thanks a lot for this feedback !

And as Whiskey-Foxtrot has mentioned, you'll have to make sure the Temp folder is cleared manually. It should be located under (for Win10): C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp

When deleting the files, it's best if you don't have any applications open, just in case some software is using some files, which would prevent it from being deleted.
I've done this all and I still get the install failure.

G.skill never said anything about motherboard compatibilities, that's the problem. Even if i RMA it, I still can't open MSI software without breaking ram lighting again. As g.skill warrantie is for original customer only, I can't sell it to someone else. I'm sad for G.skill because it's a good product on paper, but refund is the way they should go if they can't fix SPD problems quickly.
What motherboard are you using that the memory isn't compatible with? Can you not return it to the place where you bought the memory from?

I didn't think G.Skill did refunds as this is always handled by the reseller; beyond that point it's up to G.Skill to honor whatever warranty is available as long as the warranty wasn't voided.

I just downloaded SPDTool to check it out as a free alternative to Thaiphoon Burner (which works fine on my system). SPDTool opens and give me the error shown below. All I did was open the program and this message pops up. I can't read or write to my G.Skill DIMMs. No idea what the problem is. I guess I will stick with Thaiphoon Burner.

But if I want (and I do ! ) to get in touch with a lawyer (France have really strong consumer organization) about it, it's probably more fair to at least ask for it before...
