    Hi

I did method 2 but i cant get it stable with 2400 mhz nb frequency and ht-link.
So i left it at default (2200 mhz nb-freq. and 2400 mhz ht-link) and got it primestable.

My question is does this create a bottleneck between board and ram if the nb-frequency is only at 2200 mhz or will it be ok?

    Sorry for my bad english.

Could be bad BIOS, bad mobo, bad PSU...try raising vCore (CPU voltage) just a tad, DRAM voltage + 0.05 and MC voltage + 0.06

Ok so I did the above and everything was stable until I turned off the computer over night.

Next morning I start it up and all the Bios are still set the same ( had previously been failing to start, having me hit F1 and re-do all the Bios). It gets to the windows loading screen and makes a continuous beep sound. I restart it, it opens up windows no problem and crashes after a few seconds.

Why would it be stable after I change the settings but not after I turn it off?

    Thanks.

    Stability Issues

    Hello,

    My system specs are:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Quad Core Processor AM3 3.2GHZ 8MB Cache
    ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2 x 4GB) SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) CL 9-9-9-24 Memory

I first set up the specs as originally suggested and everything worked great the first day.

Next morning not it would not boot, let me know the overclock failed. I re-set them and upped the CPU/NB voltage to 1.25 and things worked fine again.

Next day got unstable.I tried 1333 Mhz and, CPU NB frequency 2000 HT Link 2000, timing 8-8-8-24.

I have Ai overclock tuner set to auto. Should I change this to manual and change CPU Bus frequency? I thought the Black edition did not need this.

I don't understand why this wont run @ 1600 CL 9-9-9-24. Could one stick be bad? Bad slot on the mother board? Raise voltage on CPU/NB and DRAM to 1.25 and 1.55 respectively?

    Previously I had 1 4G stick of PC3-10600 DDR3 1333 and it was stable.

Sorry I jumped around a bit. Thanks for any help.

    Thank you

Thank you for your response Tradesman.

"even the newest FX series are at tops rated to only two sticks of 1866, where Most all Intel 2nd and 3rd Gen CPUS can fairly easily run at least 4 sticks of 2133 and some upwards of 2800+ "

Wow, you are right, AMD MC's are crap. I should have saved a bit more and got a Intel board/i5.

For now, I will stay with AMD until I can afford an Intel. At least, I have managed to get it at 1600Mhz. Thank you for taking the time to help me. You and the other experts, thanks for helping us. Happy Holidays and Have a happy new year!

You've got them running at 1600 which is good for a 555, and you MaxMem scores look fairly in-line with what I would expect. Your friends are higher in large part because it's running an Intel which has a much stronger MC (Memory Controller) if you look at the MaxxMem threads here:

    AMD http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=10545
    Intel http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=10627

you see at 2133 - AMD doing about 16,000 copy and Intel doing about 26,000

AMD has long been known for weak MCs, even the newest FX series are at tops rated to only two sticks of 1866, where Most all Intel 2nd and 3rd Gen CPUS can fairly easily run at least 4 sticks of 2133 and some upwards of 2800+

    Asus M5A97 R2.0 F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ Phenom II X2 555

Model of the motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 BIOS 1302
    Model of the memory: F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ (2x 2GB sticks =4GB)
Model of the CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz C3 Revision HDZ555WFGMBOX http://tinyurl.com/2ukjhyl (cpu world)
    Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1

So, this system is a new build. Previously I had a ga-m57sli-s4 rev2.0 coupled with gskill F2-6400CL5D-4GBNT (DDR2 2GB each stick) and I had a memory score of 7.5 in WEI.

My ga-m57sli motherboard was very old, so my cpu performance decreased as well as the gpu (it was pci-e 1.1). I then upgraded to the new mobo from Asus and got the gskill ram.

Now, since I setup my pc and got everything running, my ram score was 5.9 in WEI and all of other scores were in 7.x. Here is a screenshot http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/7069/weiscore.png

I ram this memory test application called MaxxMEM2 on default settings meaning i have not set any timings, voltages, frequencies . This is the result I have got

    Default settings

    http://imageshack.us/a/img38/904/max...defaultset.jpg

I then followed the first page of this topic and set the dram, cpu-nb, ht link frequency, timings, and finally dram voltage. Here are the results

Settings changed after following the directions in forum

    http://imageshack.us/a/img401/1149/m...11535final.jpg

There is a difference, but the results are not very high right?

Here is my friend who has the same DDR3 1600MHz, same Gskill brand, but timings in are in 11.x.x.x

    http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7427/maxxmem202550.jpg

His timings are higher, but same frequency and yet I think I think my memory bandwidth should be higher atleast correct?

I know WEI is terrible benchmark to use, but I still dont know why I was getting in the 7.x range with my ddr2 memory and I'm getting only 5.9 with these ddr3.

In my UEFI bios, It was set all to auto settings, but I set it to manual and added those changes to the bios from the first post.

    I noticed this in CPU-World

"The fastest supported memory is DDR2-1066 and DDR3-1333" for the x2 555 black edition. So this means I am getting only a portion of the bandwidth?

Here is my CPU-Z Cpu tab info

    Mainboard Tab

    and SPD Tab

I can provide a screen shot of my bios if needed. I just wanted to know if this is the max I can do to my ram. If so, I will just stop buy AMD crap and go on with an i7 and a intel motherboard. Thank you for your generous support. You guys are amazing in support!

    gskill bios help

    Good Morning!

    PC Specs:
    M4A78LT-M Asus Motherboard http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A78LTM/
    F3-12800CL9-4GBsr (8 gigs ripjaw gskill) ddr31600
AMD Phenom II x6 1095T CPU
    Windows 7 64 Bit
Western Digital cavier black SATA 500 gig 7200RPM

    In reference to:

    http://gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=7688

I'm having some trouble with my RAM performance and bsod. I've got my ram set to ddr31600 I've followed
some of the guide above this paragraph but have some questions. It says to set my DRAM frequency to DDR3-1600
but I don't see that option anywhere on my motherboard bios settings. I also have an option
on my motherboard to set the "CPU-NB Frequency" but it doesn't allow me to select 2400MHZ or anything...
the only options I have are [AUTO] [4.00x] [5.00x] [6.00x] [7.00x] [8.00x] and so on...
What setting would I put for that..???? Yes this is for the CPU/NB Frequency. I've tried to google this and
I really can't figure out what to set it on.

I do have the Front side Bus (FSB) set to [240]. I did check the HT link freq setting in the bios but the highest
it will go is up to 2000mhz, there is no option for 2400mhz. I have set the
correct timings to the ram section 9-9-9-24 dram voltage 1.50v MEMORY CLOCK MODE set to 667 MHZ.

What should I put for the CPU/NB Freq? What should I set for the HT Link?

If I'm missing anything else please let me know... I'm having a hard time trying to get my ram to be stable and achieve performance. I'm trying to get
the right settings for my bios and setting my ram speed to ddr31600

    Thanks

    J.Martin
