HDs can be found at good prices at the Egg most all the time and/or might keep an eye out for a good deal on an SSD could get a 60 GB or so which should suffice for the OS and your primary apps then load the other apps, data files, temps, etc to your existing HD, same/same on PSUs - though make sure none of your current PSU connectors are proprietary to the mobo, etc and check the actual power output of the pSU - alot of them may say 650 or whatever, but that is peak output and they generally run much lower, 450 or so, want high amps on the 12 volt rail(s), GPU is shoot the moon, as much as you want to spend

Know the feeling, but see them fairly often, they are here in Tucson, my oldest has a degree in computer science but still calls and stops by with questions and to borrow/get parts, he's a systems guy for one of the units at DM AFB

OH the Egg does not play fair, i really don't need more ram but they dropped the price on the F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT kits and offer a 15% discountLast edited by Wildman95gst; 07-10-2011, 03:06 PM.

OF Course........I recently bought 16GB of 1600 Snipers......next evening went to check the UPS progress and the had the 1866s on sale at $30 off a set ($60 savings) and $15 a set cheaper than the 1600s, so I ordered them also.....there's times I think they watch my orders and then take whatever I buy, and put a better item on sale for cheaper (oh well....one way to accumulate spares)

What do you think my chances are that i will not encounter any problems with another set of F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT since i already have all four slots populated, one with the G.Skills and the other with Unifosa 2gb sticks. Is it common practice to run Memtest when new memory sticks are installed ? It seems that everyone does it and never mentions if they were experiencing problems with their computer. I only ran it when i started getting restarts, freezing and bsod's with my old computer.Last edited by Wildman95gst; 06-24-2011, 01:42 AM.

If no problems, then no real need to run it, adding another set is a maybe yes, maybe no....generally I would think there shouldn't be a problem, but there is that possibility....It would be more likely if they were higher frequency or more high performance oriented i.e. running a rather low/tight CL, like CL7 or something

Well i might have waited to long, work has been murder and i have had little time to do anything but eat and sleep. I checked at the Egg to order an additional set of F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT and found them , out off stock and sold out, i have never seen both of these listed on the Egg, does this mean that G.Skill does not make this kit anymoreAnother thing i ran cpu-z and the timings were all different on all sticks just like they were with my oem sticks. Strange also the g.skill sticks were id as F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT.

Timings were different where in CPU-Z? If under the SPD tab, that's not your individual sticks, but is the different programmed settings in the SPD of the sticks that you can run the sticks at i.e. might show 1333, 1066, 800 etc.....need to look in the memory tab, it will show frequency (x2 for speed - or if shows 667 then you are at 1333) timings and CR. As to to the 10666 vs 10600 (both are 1333 specs), might even show both, under max bandwidth, it shows a preprogrammed default boot designation for timings that adhere to JEDEC, the part number box itself, may be off 10666 vs 10600 is mixing sticks from different sets or may be a simple programming error in the SPD which won't effect the sticks

Is there any other supplier that sells G.skill memory, the egg has had all the major brands on their shell shock sale except g.skill. I don't want to spend $63 for another set that i have, when you could get, Crucial, Kingston or Corsair for $52 a setDoes it matter more to the compatibility between modules that the memory manufacture or the chips used are differant ?
