          Re Bios Settings

I posted my bios settings below

There are a few other things***When I first go into the M.I.T settings, I get a RED BLOCK SCREEN UP THAT SAYS: "The system has experienced boot failures because of overclocking or change in voltages.
Last setting in this voltage may not coincide with the current H/W states." What does this mean?? As far as I can tell I have not had any boot failures since I put the ram in slots 2 and 4. AND THE PC IS UP AND RUNNING

The errors are letting you know that the BIOS settings are incorrect and need to be adjusted. In your current BIOS settings above, there a couple things you should change such as DRAM Voltage to 2.1V. MCH Core can be set at 1.2V. tWR can be set to 10 as well since 13 is way loose.

            Thank you

                I made those changes..

I could only install win vista 64 bit with 1 stick of ram (in slot #1 without coming up with errors) yet, when i added the other stick in slot #3, I started coming up with the same errors all over again.

But when I used slots 2 and 4 using the two sticks of ram, windows installed correctly and I have not been coming up with any errors.

Could it be that slot #3 is defective?????

swap sticks to see if it is one the sticks or the boards slot, I see an RMA coming

I had checked both sticks with memtest86 and they both passed...

I sent a e-mail to gigabyte yesterday and explained the situation. This is the 2nd mobo in this pc and the 2nd one that slot #3 gave me trouble. I had an exchange from newegg.

I think gigabyte could have problems with the version 1.6. They must know about it. I want to put another 2 sticks of ram in it. But right now i think I am wasting my time.
I am going to wait and see what gigabyte says.
But I know if there is a swap for the same board, I am not going to go this route again. Maybe I can exchange for a different model.. maybe!

Keep us posted, I also have the v1.6 board-- it is finicky at best.

The second slots are made that way. They will work better on them. Slot probably isn't bad just can't do same Fine Delays are the second ones does as in they drop them to 0T. Don't even think it's the gigabyte honestly probably just the memory controller design.

and no I don't think RMA would solve anything in this case.

                          Thanks

Thank you 4X64 and genetix for your knowledge....I am going to change the settings and get back to you.

Gigabyte got back to me and I just sent them my ram settings(old settings) and a RMA on the other MoBo I sent back to Newegg.

Do you think it would be safe to say I could add another 2X2Gb of ram without any problems??

My grandson had computer tech. in high school and he said he would build me a great computer. And I said I would build him one(and I"m paying for the one he's building for me to boot). This did not work out so good.

I did the changes in the bios. The only thing I could not change which was in the "Channel A Timing Settings, and that was to change the......... tRD 2rd (Different Rank) [8] to Auto,..... it is now set on 3 (it would only let me do a number change) and there was no option to change it to AUTO. But everything seems to be running fine

Gigibyte got back to me and said make sure that the Performance Enhance was set to (Standard) which it is, and to set the System Memory Multipler to 800mhz, but there is no setting for this.....The only MHZ i can see is the Drive Strength Profile.

They also said that with using high voltage ram, it could make slot 3 unstable.
