  • ASUS Rampage IV Extreme & Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB)

    I just purchased this equipment and having issues. I have the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme mobo and the Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) RAM modules. The BIOS is only showing 48GB of RAM not the 64GB that is there. I have moved the RAM around in different slots and nothing is working. I can look in the BIOS at each slot and each stick of RAM is being read correctly, but it does not show up in the total correctly. I have updated the BIOS to 1305 (current BIOS) and still have the issues. I called ASUS and they told me that this RAM was not on their approved list, but G.SKILL and NewEgg show it as being compatabile. Any assistance is appreciated.

    Enable the XMP profile and see how that works.

      Thanks for the info. I followed the steps and there was no change. Still showing 48GB. Any other ideas?

        Can you post your BIOS settings, particularly the DRAM and voltage settings, have a feeling like many manufacturers, they don't have the BIOS ready for 64GB yet...we'll prob have to manually raise the the VCCSA and the MC voltages

            No pics, but might check win, go to START, then in the search box, type MSCONFIG, hit enter, then on the menu that comes up click the BOOT tab, then the ADVANCED tab and make sure off to the right the MAX MEM box is unchecked. If no joy then try posting the pics again, most people go to one of the sites on the web you can post .jpg's (pics) for free and then stick the links to your pics in your next post

                To me it doesn't look like XMP is setting thing up right, the voltages look off, i.e. DRAM voltage at 1.588, when it should be 1.65 (might try raising DRAM voltages to 1.65) and let me know...if no joy I'll see if GSkill Tech can take a look Thur

                      CPU VCCSA Manual Voltage should be 1.25V, it doesn't show anything for some reason.

                      Your problem is memory detection, so it should still show 64GB with bad settings. Try reseating the RAM and everything to insure firm installation. If problem persists, send the memory in for RMA to see if a new kit works better.

                      Thank you

                        @dvrdn72

                        You talking about the DDR3-2133Mhz Kit - right?

                        Then its strange, the Mobo is on the Qualified ram list - so it must work.
                        (and i think the REIV have the best bios supporting this RAM).

                        I am thinking about to buy the DDR3-2400 Kit - but i'am not shure that the Kit works...
