    Hi guys

    i have had this board and ram for about 3 weeks now , i have the newest bios installed , when i installed this sniper ram it defaulted to 1600 , when i tried to set it to 2133 or even 1866 it just will not go past the reboot, i have the fx 8120 BD , i have overclocked the fsb to 230 and increased the nb voltage up to 1.20 i think , set the ram to 1.65 , im not a overclocker so i need help setting this up the right way , thanks

      Might take a look at method 2 of the sticky

      http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=7688

      and try for 1866 first, and keep in mind that AMD says the 8120 can run UP TO 1866 sticks....Many have had trouble running 1866 at all let alone 2133

        good news , somehow i loaded up the 1866 profile in the bios and it works ! dram volts is at 1.65 and north bridge is at 1.25 , everything else is back to stock ,fsb,NB,HT link , i set ram timings down 1 for now and with win7 on my ssd these settings scream fast ! loads os in seconds , sometime today i would like to loosen up ram timings and try to bump up the fsb and see how high i can get the ram , is it better to keep the cpu turbo on or turn it off and just go for a high clock on the cpu ? also , the HT link on auto is 2600 mhz , should i try to keep it around there ? thanks for all your help

          Get the memory stable at where you want, then you can test CPU performance w and w/o turbo.

            i too have problems setting timings for this ram. defaults to 1333 if i just try 1600 black screen on restart,1866 same thing thats after manualy setting timings in the bios. need some proper direction as to the ram interleaving and ect to get proper clock speeds. biostar says it will run @ 1866 but not for me!

              Do you have the latest BIOS?

                yes it is the latest bios! also i forgot to mention its a biostar ta990fxe mb. ive finally gotten it to run at 1600 9,10,9,28 1t. but would still like to run it at 1866 the manufacturer says it will. emailed them and just got the no nothing responce from them to contact gskill for settings? sent back a nasty emial that said that their the mfg of the board and so they should know proper settings to get it up to speed. if i cant get it to run at 1866 then ll send it back for a msi board. go figure!

                  ive found the problem with the memory running it seems that the memory to run at rated speed you need to install them into slots a2 and b2 otherwise black screen after restart. set all timings manualy to specs in bios. no to find out how to configure the rd990u? and cir? thanks hope this helps someone else out.went from wei 7.2 to wei 7.5 awsome!

                      no every thing at stock except for manually setting timings and speed in bios. speaking of which these new eufi bios suck go back to text style hard to find anything. also its the 8120fx cpu not much difference in speed yet have to figure out these new cpu parameters for optimization. lol

                          Might be able to hit 2000 with CL9, think CL8 might be a stretch....can do like many , annorate your current stable settings and then experiment

                              ok i just bumped up the cpu frequency to 210 ,so the mem clock is at 1959 with cl 8 ! this is what i have before the increase

                              cpu clock ratio = 20x {4000}
                              north bridge freq 11x {2200 mhz}
                              core performance boost = disabled right now
                              cpu frequency = 200mhz
                              pcie clock 110 mhz [ is there a limit as how high this can go ? }
                              ht link = 11x = 2200 mhz also how high can we go with this ?

                              NB voltage is stock at 1.100v

                              now im not sure if these are set right

                              load line control is on auto
                              amd C1E Support is on auto
                              AMD C6 support is set to enabled
                              amd APM master mode is set to disabled

                              im ready to play teacher what is your command lol ?
