  • Problem With 16 GB

Good Morning Everyone, to start I want to thank any help I could provide
English is not my mother tongue, I will try to be as clear as possible

    Here I go:

I bought a few months ago this PC:

    AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Hex-Core 3.20GHz
    Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 890GX ATX
    G.Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin 1.5V DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz (12GB)
Ati Msi 6950 Twin Frozr III
    Cooler Master GX750 750W
    Hard Disk, Case etc.

I never set anything( Like Bios), the computer works correctly

well, 1 week ago I bought new Memory (for finish my 16GB)
and that's when the problems started, the pc restarts when I am in heavy gaming,
I changed the position of the memories and still the same

when I remove the new memory, the pc works fine, but when I leave that memory and one of the old bag, the pc locks up in games

thinking that are not compatible I noticed a detail in the models:

    these are my old memories:
    F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL
    DDR-1600 PC3-12800 4GBX1
    CL 9-9-9-24 1.5v

    and the new is:
    F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL
    DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4GBX1
    XMP CL9-9-9-24 1.5v

I thought it was the same and now are giving me this headache I called the store where you buy them, and tell me they do not have the model I have. Neither money back, I feel a little bad about this.

these memories can work together? which is what I have to do

I already update my bios with tool @bios

    Thx for read this

So you have bought 4, single stick packages..with each stick being 4GB? Might take a look at the sticky

    http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=7688

to get a basic setup for 1600 stick, and then will probably have to experiment by raising DRAM Voltage and CPU/NB Voltage, it's best to buy a single complete set i.e. 4x4GB of 16GB, that way they are tested to work together, next of course would be 2 sets of 2x4GB, which can have problems not wanting to work together especially with an AMD CPU, worst case scenario is buying 4 single sticks.

thx for reply... I bought first 3 memorys

      this
      F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL
      DDR-1600 PC3-12800 4GBX1
      CL 9-9-9-24 1.5v

and 1 week ago I bought this one
      F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL
      DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4GBX1
      XMP CL9-9-9-24 1.5v

      1. That can work together?
      2. I saw the tutorial "AMD CPU + G.Skill DDR3-1600 ", I have a question, can my 16gb work with 1600 mhz. or I need to change to 1333

      thx

The CPU yopu have is capable of running 16GB of 1600, the mobo also can run it....the problem you may have is running the sticks you have since you didn't buy them as a complete set, set are tested to be sure all sticks work together. No matter what type of DRAM you get, if you get the sticks in separate sets or individually they may have trouble playing nicely with each other, oft times as they come from different production lots and the materials may also have been from different production lots, the tolerances can differ microscopically and create problems....if it won't work at 1600, yes you can oft times drop to 1333 and tighten the timings i.e. if your sticks are 9-9-9-27 you can go 1333 with 8-8-8-24 and they will work and have near same performance as 1600 native due to the lower CL at 1333

          Thank very much

Sometimes the seller just think about selling and not explain this and we are the customers who pay the Consequences, also agree that I have some guilt.

          CPU-Z shows me this information.

          DRAM Frequency 803.6 Mhz
          FSB: DRAM 1:4
CAS # Latency (CL) 9.0 clocks
RAS # to CAS # Delay (tRCD) 9 clocks
RAS # Precharge (tRP) 9 clocks
          Cycle time (tRAS) 9 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (RRS) 37 clocks
          Command Rate (CR) 1T

which will have better performance, the configuration I have currently 12 GB with 1600Mhz or 16GB with 1333MHz

          voltage is 1.5V

          ty a lot

Are the settings above for the 12 GB? if so, might be able to get the 16GB to run stable by simply changing the CR to 2T (better for fast sticks and AMD MCs)and possibly raising the CPU/NB voltage a tad

yes, this is the default configuration. works well. in these months I never had any problems, the detail is when I put the new memory, the pc just restarts in heavy gaming, I can spend hours on msn and normal, the problem is when I demand.

I will do what you say on the CR to 2T, but you mean exactly CPU / NB?

              CPU Voltage Control
              NB voltage control
              CPU NB VID Control

I'm a little confused on this part

              my motherboard is a GA-890GPA-UD3H

                  PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

                  I change CPU NB VID, 0.100v +

                  and set 9-9-9-24

                  Command Rate 2T

                  what can I do now

                    CPU NB Frequency 2400MHz?

Post some pictures of BIOS and we can see if anything is incorrect.

                    Thank you

I didnt change CPU NB Frequency before, but now I did,

                      now my config is this
I am testing with this config now but tell me if something is wrong please.

I got other type of blue screen, was a little fast I didnt check which was, but was something like this

"...if this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your computer..."

Did you restart and try again?

Test one at a time with those settings.

                          Thank you

                              Try DDR3-1333 8-8-8-24 1.50V

It is possible the two sticks are not compatible because they are not from the same kit. In the future, make sure to purchase a dual channel kit for a dual channel motherboard.

                              Thank you
