  • asus p8p67 and F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL prob

    G'day,
I have just finished building my new compute looks like this
    Asus P8P67 Deluxe V3 L1155 P67
    Intel Core i7 2600K Processor LGA1155 3.4GHz CPU
    OCZ Agility 3 - 120GB - 2.5' SATA3 SSD
    msi gtx480 N480GTX-M2D
Antec HCG-900 900W High Current Gamer Power Supply
    G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB(2x 4GB) Memory Kit - 240pin DIMM
    - PC3-12800 / DDR3-1600 - CL9 - 1.5v - Unbuffered - Non-Ecc (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL)

    I bought another
    G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB(2x 4GB) Memory Kit - 240pin DIMM
    - PC3-12800 / DDR3-1600 - CL9 - 1.5v - Unbuffered - Non-Ecc (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL)
inserted it and rebooted and all started fine, bios all seemed fine 1600 ram 16g
Turn computer off for the nite, restart next day and here the problem begins

Compute lights up goes to start, shuts down, restarts and led next ram stays on
and error code 45 comes up, run memok it says it has boot and to save the
bios, go into bios and it has reset ram to 1333, save it compute boots runs ok
but is slightly unstable. Go back into bios reset ram to 1600 and reboot, compute
starts, runs for a little bit then gives me the blue screen of death with a nasty
error message. Pull out the new ram, reboot, bios auto's the ram to 1600 and boots.
Try the 2 new sticks on there own, 45 error, try each stick on there own and 1 stick
works, 1 goes 45 error and memok won't boot it.

Have put a warranty ticket in with my etailer who have asked me to return the ram
but to also come in here and ask tech if they know if it is a tech prob or a faulty stick
problem, I quote from my etailer
'It?s highly recommended that you can contact the manufacturer's technical support for any troubleshooting or technical support before you return the product back for warranty claim. Most of these supports are free and will provide you a manufacturer technical support case number which may be required and speed up the warranty procedure. You can find the details on the manufacturer?s websites'

It says a 'manufacturer technical support case number' will speed up my claim.
Would appreciate 1 of those if it is possible and any response from this thread
I will pass on to my etailer

oh I am in australia too

    Thanks in advance

Make sure you have the latest BIOS. Clear BIOS with the CLRTC button or pins, then enable XMP in BIOS and the system should be stable.

    Thank you

      G'day,
Thank you very much for the quick response.
I had already got the latest bios and reset it several times
and googled about it and talked to techo friends and had given up
to the point of thinking it was a bad stick.
How could i have ever thought that g-skill would have sent me
      a faulty ram stick
You tech guys rock hard core.
Rebooted set bios on xmp, shut down, put 2 new sticks in
reboot hit the reset go into bios, all looks just fantastic
      Compute boots, all seems stable.
Gave it another cold boot, boom boots fine, ram all goin at 1600
compute been runn'n for a bit, playin LOTRO and all is stable.
      Cancelling my warranty return
Thank you thank you thank you
You all have a great day

          G?day,
Well I really did think we had this problem solved however
The system is still not stable and it seems to be just the 1
Particular ram stick that is causing the problem.

Computer ran fine for ages then for no reason whatsoever
Turned itself off and on again and went ram led on and error 45.
After swapping out ram etc and resetting bios I got it to boot and
Run 1600 with all 4 sticks.

Last nite after gaming most of the day turned big screen to TV and
About 10mins later I see computer goes on/off when I look it
Is once again ram led on and error 45. I then got it to boot with 4 sticks
But it had switched the ram back to 1333 even with it set to xmp 1600 profile.
Using just 3 sticks of ram I got to boot and it said 1600 ram so I set it to boot
From the key drive after putting the 4th stick back in and run memtest86
which it did 5 passes on last nite and Found no errors, memtest86 recognised
all 4 sticks as 1600 etc As soon as booted out of memtest86 I got the same
          error 45 problem.

I went to asus website this morning and there is an even newer bios available
So I downloaded the very latest bios flashed the bios and reset everything
Same problem, will not boot with that particular ram stick in on it?s own or
With other ram sticks, which seems to indicate maybe that stick is faulty.

Any more advice would be welcome, getting a bit frustrated, I thought we
Had the problem solved updating the bios and resetting to xmp but it is still
          Going on.

          Thanks

ASUS is still working on their BIOSs, but may have a bad stick, see if you can boot up and run Memtest on it
May want to add .04 or .05 to the DRAM Voltage

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

              G'day,
Well no luck at all today getting it to boot with that ram stick
so I can't get a memtest on it, however as I said in earlier post
I ran memtest86 on it with all 4 sticks for 5 passes and no errors
but as soon as i came out of memtest and tried to boot it
did it's error 45 and no boot.

I mean the other 3 sticks all run no problems soon as I stick
that particular ram stick in it all goes to hell.

I did have a return to my etailer in last week till I thought
your earlier solution had fixed the problem and cancelled it

So do you recomend returning the ram and seeing if it is a
faulty stick? if so is there a tech No or something I can send
with that? or something I can give the etailer to say i have been
trying to sort it with g-skill tech's?

I think I would, for your etailer, might suggest coping this thread and could even provide them with a link to it:
