  • Maximus IV Extreme and F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

    Hello.

Bought a new rig, got it together today.
I keep experiencing the debug code 45 on this motherboard. I have tried every possible placement of RAM on the motherboard, and cleared CMOS completely between every placement. Even tried different RAM. No luck.

I tried removing the CPU and then place it back into its slot, and still no luck. It will point to debug error code 45 unless I completely remove the RAM. At this point, it will point to debug error code 22, which is normal.

Any suggestions to what can be at fault?

    Thanks, Tony

Have you tried resetting the BIOS with e CLRTC button on the motherboard? Do that, and try again.

You should be able to enable XMP and be ready to go.

    Thank you

I unplug the power, I press and hold the switch for 5-10 sec, I re-plug the power, and boot up. Still the same error. I've tried this between every change of RAM placement/combination, without luck.

Do you have or can you borrow a different stick of DRAM to try? Have you tried disconnecting the drives, reseating the GPU? Possibly try a different PSU?

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

I'm referring to the first post. "Even tried different RAM. No luck."

GPU or no GPU, no change. Have tried x1900, gtx285, gtx580 and no GPU. No go.

PSU is the same as in the old rig, Corsair AX 1200w. Have also tried the one I used before that one, Corsair TX 750w.

No change. It still ends up giving me debug code 45.

Weird thing is, if I remove the RAM (boot with no RAM), and let it stay on error code 22 for longer than 15 seconds, it'll go to error code 53, which indicates a faulty RAM speed or something. Can't really remember that one.

          Thanks, Tony

I think hex code 45 means it's trying to ensure the memory is OK to go. It's part of the hardware check process of POST. The maximus 4 extreme motherboard has EXTREMELY tough slots to get the RAM sticks in to. Are you sure the sticks are seated? Don't be afraid to push down a little more with force. Improperly-seated RAM can cause the hardware check process to go faulty. In fact, the maximus 4 extreme mobo (for me) had the most rigid memory slots.

It's weird it stucks on 45 then, and nothing shows up on screen. I've tried two different GPUs, of which I know both are working (just tested them before on my previous system), and my current GPU.

If I am to get the RAM even further down, I'll have to peel off the G.Skill metal plates. It's as far down as it goes.

Oh well. In hope of it being the motherboard, I've RMA'd it, and sending it back tomorrow morning. Will come back with an update to this matter.

              Tony.

Even the ram kit I purchased is faulty. However, at <$130 for 8GB of DDR3-1866 RAM I can't cry or complain. Unfortunately for you things didn't go as smoothly. Wait for the RMA to return, then update the folks who've tried to help you then. Good luck!
