I'd leave a page file, wouldn't have to be a big one, that way if what's allocated in the RAM overfills, then it will be written to disk and help keep the speed up when you return to pages on the net you usually go to, might set to 512MG up to 1GB depending how much you are returning to the same sites and going to new ones, can sort of experiment with sizes

I am not sure what this board would do without your dedication and support. Have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year

I have been off this week and have had time to tinker with the computer, first i down loaded 5 different web browsers and tried them all, there was no change to the problem i was having. Then i did the unthinkable, i removed the G.Skill ram and installed the stock Gateway memory, it has been two days now and have had no problems occurring

Are we talking the tower or the laptop? If the tower might try adding a touch of voltage to the DRAM ( + .03 and or the VCCIO (I think that's it on your mobo) ( + .04).....might also check and see if they have an update for your BIOS, you've had that awhile

I checked and have the latest Bios and gateway has made the bios so that nothing can be adjusted

                        • Dx4860

I have been following this thread since I have a Gateway DX4860 and I recently ordered the same RAM as Wildman95gst the F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT. I am awaiting delivery of mine to see how it performs compared the OEM memory that Gateway installed. This thread has me a bit worried.

                          • Haven't really found anything, might try with a larger page file to see if that helps (maybe a couple GB or so) just to see what happens and if it helps, but can't really think of anything that should be directly related to the DRAM effecting things this way, unless it's something they have programmed into the BIOS, one of those deals to get true compatibility you need to get DRAM through them for upgrades.

                            • Low density chips

I have read that these boards may be designed to only work properly with low density chips, can you confirm whether the GSkill uses the low density chips?

                              • Have to get GSkill to answer that, will drop them a line
