  • Best config settings for F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL on Asus M4A89GTD PRO

Hello, I recently put together this PC:

    = AMD x6 1090T
    = g. skill 8GB (2x4GB) F3-12800CL9D-86BRL
    = Asus M4A89GTD PRO

can you please share with me how to configure the RAM? i want to get the most out of it, but not compromise system stability. This is the first time I do this so keep in mind I am "newer than a newbie" at this...

    THANKS!

Believe you'll want the DRAM to spec timings and voltage, CR to 2N and CPU BUS to 240, may also have to raise CPU/NB voltage a tad..if you could post your current BIOS settings it would help

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Thanks, but that post leaves me with other questions:

1 - " CPU Host/Bus Frequency to 240 " the closer thing I see in the BIOS is CPU /NB, is this it? If it is, all the numbers are in the thousands, so is it 2400MHz?

        2 - After the initial "tCL 9 - tRCD 9 - tRP 9 - tRAS 24" settings i have a lot more, what do i do with those?
read to pre time, Row Cycle time , Wrtite recovery time, ras to ras delay, read to write delay, ect...

3- Should i modify something on the DRAM driving configuration?? if so, what?

4- what about all the other voltages options like CPU VDDA, HT, NB, SB, SidePort memory, ect?

        thanks again

CPU Bus Frequency used to be referred to as the FSB (Front Side Bus), should be CPU Clock or CPU Bus in the bios.
Not sure if your board allows for 800/1600 memory setting in the bios without increasing the CPU clock.
To do so, you may have to change CPU overclock from auto to manual in the bios.
Keep in mind that once you increase the CPU clock, it will increase the CPU and NB frequencies as well.
So you will have to set the CPU and NB multipliers to your desired frequencies.
You can keep all other memory settings on Auto for now.
Also make sure that you manually set the memory voltage in the bios as well.

Thanks man!, Like you said, when I change de CPU overclock to manual de "CPU bus frequency showed up, and manually typed 240.. (also PCIE freq. showed, does it matter?)

NOw having to set the CPU/NB... where do i begin? right now is on AUTO, but the option are in MHz 1680, 1920, 2160, all the way to 5040...

I set the DRAM voltage to 1.6v. SHould i worry about the HT voltage since i made changes to it? (i understand that is the same things as the bus freq.)

            thanks!

Keep the PCI-E frequency at default (100MHz).
Default frequency for the HT Link and CPU/NB is 2000MHz.
A nice, stable overclock for the CPU/NB frequency is 2400-2600MHz with 1.25-1.275v CPU/NB voltage.
No need to overclock the HT Link, keep it in the 2000-2200MHz range, leave HT voltage on Auto.
              I run my 1090T@ 4.014GHz with CPU voltage of 1.45v on a 24/7 basis.

ok, so if I chose a 1333MHz with 8CL config. will i still have to modify CPU bus and voltages?

No, if you leave the CPU Bus at 200MHz, it should default to 1333 speed.
Just noticed that you're running 8GB of memory.
Assuming that you're not overclocking the NB frequency, try running at default voltages for now.
If it's unstable, you may have to increase the CPU/NB, NB, and HT Link voltages.

thanks for all the help YourNemesis007!!!

Right now i have everything in auto, but the cpu freq. in 200, and ram in 1333, with timings of 8-8-8-24.

The reason i started all this is because i get this blank screens when playing a video or almost anything else. they last for 2secs. and then I have image again... so i am trying to see if my problem is RAM not conigured well since the GPU is the integrated one that came with the MB...

If you don't get lockups or BSOD's, then I would say black screens are related to your video adapter.

yeah, that is what i think...

question: what would you recommend as an easy way to benchmark my RAM performance? I want to compare setting it at 1333/8cl vs 1600 overclocking.

I know that I should be able to feel the difference on my every day use, but i would like results with numbers...

                        thanks!
