  • RipjawsX confusion BG BC

So I thought I upgrade my ram capacity and bought additional RipjawsX ram presumingly the same dimms as I already had

    f3-12800cl9d
    1600
    cl9-9-9-24

I got them In the mail today and I was surprised to see that there are some differences between new and old ... The heat-sink is a little different which looks strange if installed,
CPU-z shows different stats (trc 33 instead of 40) and there Is a golden GB instead of BC on the new ones.
I have no Idea what It means so I have a few questions.
Will I have a performance disadvantage If the modules aren't exactly the same ?
What does GB and BC stand for?
Is It normal that they run at 800MHz if in dual-channel mode ?
    overclocking worth it ?

Looks like you have the older and the newer/updated versions of the sticks....the DRAM freq showing in CPU-Z is one of the common misconceptions from that program (see my info thread here:

    http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=10565

the 800 or so is showing the true freq, but since this is DDR (DOUBLE DATA RATE (key on double)) have to remember that as DOUBLE it's freq times 2 or 800 x 2 = 1600 effective.

Not sure about the BC and GB on the sticks, never really noticed it, will drop a note to GSkill Tech.

Sounds like they are running OK at 1600, which is good, when mixing sets, even of the same exact model, it can be problematic, but sounds as though your sets are playing well together, many often have to adjust timings or voltages

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

GB an GC are just different PCBs. The modules were produced at different times, you can even tell that from the new and updated heat spreaders.
