Have same setup with different problems

Hello,

I have this same setup with the same board, CPU, and memory. I seem to have a different problem though with my memory defaulting down to DDR2 800 and not registering at the DDR2 1200 that it should. I am new at overclocking and not wanting to try it until I have a better understanding of it. However I would dearly love to be able to have the board bios set up to be optimal for the memory installed. Can I get some input on how the BIOS should be set?

800 is the default for the mobo, so it has to be swt manually to 1200. First, do you have the latest BIOS? May want to flash it if you don't. Anyway, input the speed/frequency manually, then put in your base timings, CR (Command Rate) to 2, and the DRAM voltage for your sticks....see what happens...if any problem get back to us, and if you can Post your BIOS settings.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I knew how to post the bios settings I would. I will try the settings soon as I get home from work. As for the CPU settings do I change anything or do I only mess with the DRAM timing and speed?

Defaults

I have tried raising the DRAM voltage up to 2.1 and raised the MCH up to 1.16v. I still do not have the option to set the memory clock at 1200. It still shows up in ET6 as PC6400.

I really dont know what else to tweak with this. My current BIOS is FD for the v1.6 board.

Set your ram up in the BIOS, not throug easy tune, and do it manually

You're looking at the wrong places. You should be looking at DRAM Frequency, not max bandwidth.

If you have CPU-z, look in the memory tab, it should show ~600MHz if memory is set to DDR2-1200.

Most places will only show half of the DDR speed, that is because DDR is double data rate, so the real frequency is actually half.

You would need a benchmark test such as Everest Ultimate to test and show DDR2-1200 (effective frequency).
