Hi,
I'm considering buying G.Skill DDR2 8GB(4x2GB) PC800 PI CL4.
My PC is nearly passive. It has only one low-rpm fan inside the PSU.
Everything stock speed, no OC.
I wonder if G.Skill 4 ram sticks won't overheat without additional airflow when put close together.
Now I have 2x1GB Patriot PC6400 LLK. They are very hot. I can't hold fingers on it for more than 2-3 secs.
I have found on the web that 4x2GB Patriot set overheats in similar passive PCs.
That's why I'm looking for ram with lower operating temperature. I do not want to install additional fans.
Please advise if 4x2GB G.Skill PC6400 PI (no OC) will work stable in such a hostile environment
My config:
1. GA-P35C-DS3R rev. 1.1
2. Intel E6600 + ThermalRight-Ultra 120 cooler (w/o fan)
http://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-U.../dp/B000PHEV6C
3. PSU BeQuiet StraightPower 550W
4. Patriot DDR2 PC6400 800MHz 2x1GB LLK CL4
5. Case Chieftec Dragon miditower DX-01-B-D-U
http://www.chieftec.eu/index.php?opt...=76&Itemid=275
6. No fans except the one inside PSU = almost no active airflow inside the case.
Regards,
Artur
