  • HD 6870 vs HD 6950 1gb

Hello. I am contemplating upgrading from my gtx 260 core 216 to a new card but want some advice. Should I go ahead now with a XFX HD 6870 Black Edition $259.99 free shipping with $30 rebate on newegg (rebate expires 1/15). Or should I wait for the upcoming HD 6950 1gb? I am thinking that the pricing will be similar for these two. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Sort of either/or, it's a good deal on the 6870 and think they are expecting about a 5-10 FPS difference between the two. Depending on the mobo, you could go w/ the 6870 now and then down the road a bit maybe a few months, look to move to CrossFire when the 6870 prices drop more

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Get the 6950 and flash the BIOS to the 6970, its easy an upgrade! Lastly what are your specs like CPU speed, depending on your speed the CPU can be a bottleneck issue in some cases.

I was just reading about reflashing the 6950. I'm running a phenom 2 945 3.0ghz, would that be a bottleneck? Thank.

For a single card solution 3Ghz is not bad, personally I would go for the 3.2-3.4 range for smoother FPS, but your fine where you at.
