  • Compatibility Check Please!

Hello, just made a purchase on newegg, and thought i had all my ducks in a row, but then realize the voltage was different. Will this set up work?

Proc: AMD Phenom II X4 955
    MoBo: MSI 790FX-GD90

    RAM:G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXM
    DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
    Timing 9-9-9-24
    Cas Latency 9
    Voltage 1.35V

    VIDEO: 4X Sapphire Radeon 5750 1 GB GDDR5

I will be currently upgrading from 4GB, so Im sure I will see significant improvement in browser/gaming, ect
I suppose I'll need to OC to max out on the DDR3 1600, but the mobo is nice for that, as long as I don't find its too outdated

    Any tips would be appreciated
Been trying to read up on voltage compatibility, but cant find concrete compatability
Proc: AMD Phenom II X4 955
    MoBo: MSI 790FX-GD90
    RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4x4)DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
    VIDEO: 4X Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon 5750 1 GB GDDR5
    HDD: 4x 1TB WD 7200 Sata II
    CASE: Antec 902 v2
    PS: Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W @ 40?C
    Cooler: Antec Max 92mm
Windows Vista 64-Bit (I Know! next upgrade)

A few things, first being you may have trouble running 4 sticks at 1600, even with a big OC, normally I suggest at least a 965 C to run 4 sticks, but it is possible, so keep in mind you may have to drop to 1333 (though the greater amount of DRAM and if you can tighten timings will make up for the lost bandwidth. There's a thread that might help with the set up here:

O the subject of voltage, while these are rated at 1.35, you'll prob have to run higher than that, prob 1.45, maybe up to 1.5, but not to worry the sticks can handle that and even a little higher. If you do drop to 1333, you won't need as much voltage as 1600, but still may need more that 1.35, primarily due to the nature of the AMD CPUs having weak MCs (memory controllers). If you need any help when you get going, just give a shout

Im not really into the whole over clock, but since this is an aging system, i wanted to give it one last hoorah, to help it limp along for another 2 tears or so. it was a good beast 2 years ago when i built it

Even if i cant get solid 1600, 4 sticks running @ 1333 should really help the multi tab browsing, older gaming (Crysis/GOW/COD Black Ops I/MW2)
I just wanted to make sure if i just plug them in from the box, will i have any compatibility issues, and will i see the speed increase im looking for?

When you initially install (make sure you have the latest BIOS first), it will prob default to 1066 or 1333, can then try going 1600 and see if that will work, if problems try 1333 or call out if you need help. GSkill folks and I are in and out so it may not be immediate as to a response, but I check in a few times a day (to check posts and also to screen all new user signups for Spammers). GSkill's off weekends, but I'm in and out and we have a few AMD guys that jump in fairly often.
