I got a 60gb Phoenix Pro which had Windows 7 installed on it. Worked great for almost a year and recently desktop keeps freezing. Decided to reinstall windows on the drive. BIOS sees the hard drive with no issues, and it will even boot the old installation of windows (every time, other than desktop keeps freezing)
Windows 7 setup doesn't see the drive, and I tried using diskPart in the setup but the drive still doesn't show. Tried to partition the drive using gParted and it couldn't make a new partition, gives out an "input/output error during reading".
I decided to install windows on a separate hard drive and clone it over to the SSD. But the SSD doesn't always show up in Device Manager. It will always show in BIOS, but only shows up in Device Manager / Storage Management once in a while. Tried to update the firmware, but the original upgrade tool doesn't recognize the drive (even when the drive showed up in Windows). I tried following the steps to set the SATA controller driver back to Microsoft, but now the drive just never shows up and the original upgrade tool doesn't see the drive at all.
Any ideas? Or is it time to RMA this thing?
