  • RipjawsZ F3-19200CL10Q2-64GBZHD with Asus Rampage Extreme IV ?

    Hi!

Maybe i want to upgrade my RAM because Adobe Premiere and After Effects can use this amount easy.

    The thing is:

i'am not shure if my 3960X with the Asus REIV can handle this RAM @2400Mhz

    The thing is:

    i use Corsair XMS3 Dominator GT DIMM Kit 32GB PC3-14900U CL9-10-9-27 (DDR3-1866) (CMT32GX3M4X1866C9)

this is a very good Kit and it should run @2.133Mhz with higher timings.

    But i can't run the Kit @2.133Mhz CL10 or CL11.

So i'm afraid that the 2.400Mhz never work.

Is the Problem my 3960X CPU (memorycontroller)?

with loading the xmp profile the alreading run @ CPU VCCSA Manual Voltage = [1.250]
(but i can lower it to 0,85V and it runs stable @default speed 1866Mhz CL9).

    Another Question is:

can i run the KIT @DDR3-2400Mhz without extra overclocking?

Has the mobo a ram/clock divider for 2400Mhz?
(i want to use 2400Mhz with default speed or only the Asus OC (Asus Boards runs Turbo Mode all cpu Core @3,9Ghz (insted of 2 core @3,9Ghz)

Thank you very much for your help!

Ok i can run my mem (now) @DDR3-2133Mhz @CL10-11-10-32-298-2T

    i did the following changes:

    Set AI OC: manual
    Set Tweak Mode 1
    CPU VCCSA Voltage: 1,250V
    DRAM Voltage: 1,53V

    What did you think:

    can i give the RipjawsZ F3-19200CL10Q2-64GBZHD a try ?

Which timing can i expect when i run the Kit "only" @DDR3-2133Mhz ?

    EDIT:

Are the two fans needed for installation !?

That's the only mobo GSkill has certified for this set, thus far, so they should have the settings to run them, would think they should run under XMP with maybe a VCCSA adjustment, at 2133 think you should be able to run CL9 (i.e. not the same but I've run the 32GB/CL9 Z and X 2133 sets at 2400 with CL10) would think 9-11-11-31 at 2133. Not sure what exact OC might be required, but with your CPU I'd be running it faster than needed anyway would guess maybe need 4.2 or so

Well, seeings believing, I haven't worked with the mobo/CPU combo which is why I referenced the set with the mobo as GSkill certified, have to tag this in with my reference posts

A few hours ago i got the Kit!

it was recognized very well by the bios, and shows the whole 64gigs .

                Loading Profile 1
                rebooting
                Win7 starts

BUT, Prime95 wont run stable a few sec. a worker stopped!

I checked the Bios setting again:

                CPU VCCSA 1,25V
                RAM Voltage 1,65V

                loading Profile 2 doesn't help

                Edit:

                    These are my DDR3-2400 settings:

                    I tried to run the mem @ DDR-2133Mhz CL9-11-11-31-2

it seems to be stable with:

                    CPU VCCSA 0,865V
                    RAM Voltage 1,535V

But have to run Prime95 much more.

I'am a little bit concerned about the heat of the mem. The Kit runs very hot (ok we have @home 22-25 degrees).

                    But the anoying thing is:

i cant use the included g.skill memory fans on the Asus Rampage Extreme IV!
Because i have a GTX 680 SLI - and NEED - the first PCIe Slot.

So i remove my prolimatech megahalem cpu cooler and replace it with the Noctua NH-D14 (this one have a 14cm fan in the middle). Then a have to isolate (hope its the right english word) - the fan brackets because the have contact with the GTX680 in the first PCIe Slot. I think the mem temp is better with the noctua, but the memory will run hot with prime95.

                    BTW:

this is my Case Lian Li TYR PC-X2000F:
                    http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product...s_index=61&g=f

I think it have a very good cooling solution (replaced the 140mm cooler wit BeQuiet Silent Wings).

On the fans, would actually have to have the rig in my hands to offer a suggestion or two, I seldom even run the fans that come with some of the sets (which is why I have some lying around), haven't really had a need for them, I normally stick them in builds just to add some color or for a WoW factor for some clients

                        Hi!

                        I sent the Kit back,
in my opinion the RipjawsZ heatspreaders are to "fat", so they getting hotter as a kit of dominators (they have high but slim heatspreaders).

                        I will waiting for a 64GB DDR3 2133-CL9 Kit @1,5V.
(Corsair will release such a kit).

                        One Question:

are the heatspreaders of the Ares-Series slim as the RipjawsZ ?

Are there plans for a 64GB Kit Ares memory?

On the Ares, I'm not GSkill, so not sure what their plans are, I wouldn't bet on it, but who knows, I know I've been hoping to see 32 or 64GB in the Snipers, but apparently nothing is planned there, which is why I went 32GB in both the Z and the X models, and interestingly enough, I think the Zs dissipate heat a little better than the Xs
