  • Which X79 mobos work with the G.Skill F3-19200CL10Q2-64GBZHD 64gb DDR3 2400 kit ?

Help! Has anyone used this 64gb kit on their X79 mobo? Will it "play nice" with my ASUS P9X79 WS? I wonder...

Let me know your experience with this 64gb kit on your X79 mobo. G.Skill has only qualified it for the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme (R4E), but one buyer on NewEgg says it works great on their ASUS P9X79 DELUXE. Tradesman says "maybe" it will work on the ASUS P9X79 WS, but can't be absolutely sure, since it crucially depends on whether the mobo BIOS properly implements the XMP 1.3 settings, especially at the maximum size (64gb) and the maximum speed (DDR3 2400) supported by the X79 chipset, and claimed by all the mobo makers.

So I'm trying to get a feel for which X79 mobos "play nice" with this kit and which don't. Help me out guys!

If you could include your stable non-XMP non-auto BIOS settings, it would be great!

Look at the Rampage IV Extreme alongside the 3960K, fairly easy, or the Rampage IV Formula, that one was with a 3930K, both took some fine tuning, XMP was a little low on juice with the 3930K /Formula and extra timing work was needed, only ran both at 2400. T's right on the BIOS, if it's not primo, it can be a bear, like with the Formula.

Yes, should work fine as long as you have the K or X series CPU.

          Thank you

            Dear GSKILL TECH:

I see, it all depends on the strength of the MC in the CPU ! My dilemma is now:

            Waiting for IB-E with this mobo & memory, is a 3820 OK, or do I need a 3930K ?

To resolve my dilemma, I would request your best estimates for the following:

With an ASUS P9X79 WS mobo and 3820 CPU, using a 1.25 strap and 125 BCLK,

            assuming an overclock of 36 x 125 MHz = 4.50 GHz, or 38 x 125 MHz = 4.75 GHz,

and stock XMP settings for an F3-19200CL10Q2-64GBZHD 8x8gb DDR3 2400 kit:

            A: What is the percent chance it will work at 1.25 x DDR3 1866 = DDR3 2333 ?

            B: What is the percent chance it will work at 1.25 x DDR3 1600 = DDR3 2000 ?

            C: What is the percent chance it will work at 1.25 x DDR3 1333 = DDR3 1666 ?

            D: What is the percent chance it will work at 1.25 x DDR3 1066 = DDR3 1333 ?

Thank you in advance for your invaluable insight into resolving my dilemma !

            Sincerely, Dr. Neale
