  • 2x F3-10666CL7Q-16GBXH and Asus P9X79PRO

    I really need some help to configure the bios of my asus board. It seems like it just set completely wrong settings for my ram. (I get really annoying freezes)

    I use the F3-10666CL7Q-16GBXH two times, so I got 32gb ram. May this cause some problem in the bios?

    Setting in the AI Suite:

    I will edit this to submit my bios setting soon.

    EDIT:
    BIOS settings:

    AI Overclock Tuner -> XMP
    XMP DDR3-1333 7-7-7-21-2N-1.5V -> Profile #1
    BCLK Frequency -> 100.000
    CPU Strap -> Auto
    ClockGen Full Reset -> Enabled
    Turbo Ratio -> By all Cores
    Memory Frequency -> DDR3-1333Mhz

    DRAM Timing Control:
    Primary:
    Cas Latency -> 7
    Ras to Cas Delay -> 7
    Ras PRE -> 7
    Ras Act -> 21
    Command Mode 2

    Secondary:
    Ras to Ras Delay -> 4
    REF Cycle Time -> 107
    Write Recovery -> 10
    Read to PRE -> 5
    Four Act Win Time -> 20
    Write to Read Delay -> 5
    Write Latency -> 7

    Third
    TTDR 0
    RRDD 2
    WWDR 3
    WWDD 3
    RWDR 2
    RWDD 2
    WRDR 1
    WRDD 1
    RWSR 2
    CCD 0

    Latency:

    What -> CHA/CHB/CHC/CHD
    RTL D0R0 -> 33/31/33/31
    IOL D0R0 -> 5/4/6/5
    RTL D0R1 -> 33/31/33/31
    IOL D0R1 -> 5/4/6/5
    RTL D1R0 -> 31/31/31/31
    IOL D1R0 -> 4/5/4/5
    RTL D1R1 -> 31/31/31/31
    IOL D1R1 -> 4/5/4/5

    That's all i know. I hope I didnt miss some settings.
    I would be very thankful if there's any help!

    Yes, mixing sets even of the same model can be problematic, I'd check each set by themselves then DISABLE XMP (won't work this way) and install both sets, see what AUTO does. If the base timings don't set correctly, set them manually, add .05 to DRAM voltage and try that....if still problems get back to me and we'll see about adjusting the other voltages and advance timings

      Thanks for your fast support!
      I changed from XMP to Auto and raised the DRAM Voltage CHAB and CHCD up to 1.505V
      I hope that's it!

      Thanks again!

          It seems to work! I have not had any crashes or freezes yet.
          Well.. I got one after reinstalling windows. The settings in the AI suite II seem to be just saved in the programme itself not directly to the mainboard.
          I contacted ASUS about this, but they do not need to anwser my tickets...
          But after installing the Asus suite again, I do not have freezes anymore.

          Thank you very much!

              Well, I sadly have to say that the freezes came back.

              I got two different games now, which are causing freezes:
              the secret world (freezes every 5-10h)
              cities xl 2012 (freezes every 5-15min!!)

              it's quite confusing, because the ai suite seems to reset the ram voltages after a reboot after a freeze.

                Best to set the various settings directly in the BIOS, when using software based you can't even be sure the software is setting accurately, most software 'tuning' programs are somewhat generic and not updated to keep up with BIOS updates

                  I changed the voltages in the bios directly, but my mainboard does not look interested in any changes made by me.
                  The voltages are set to 1.505V, but the bios displays something between 1.507 - 1.517 (changes fast).
                  Is that normal?

                    Might contact Asus and see if they are working on a new BIOS and or aware of the problems

                      Yes, voltage fluctuates all the time, so that is nothing strange.

                      Thank you
