  • AMDFX8150\Sniper 1866\GA-990FXA timing help

    Hello,

I am currently having issues when getting my mobo to use the

correcting timing for my ram. The mobo is detecting them at 1333 and

I can't quite get the timing right for this ram to run at it's

proper speed. I might not have the DRAM and CPU-NB freq set right

either. I also have the latest BIOS firmware (F6f).

    My Mobo:
    GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128514

    My Ram:
    G.SKILL Sniper Series DDR3 1866 (16GB, bought 2 sets)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231460

    My CPU:
    AMD FX-8150
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103960

    ---------------

Second issue, a buddy of my is having the same issue but with

different hardware. Any help there as well?

    His Mobo:
    ASUS M5A97

    His Ram:
    G.SKILL Sniper Series DDR3 2133 (8GB)

    His CPU:
    AMD FX-4100

You guys are looking for trouble eh??

You purchased two kits instead of a single 16GB kit, so hopefully they can work together in the same system.

Your buddy purchased DDR3-2133, this can be a little tricky to set up as it requires overclocking experience.

We'll do our best to stabilize both systems.

First off with yours, you need to input these settings:

    DRAM Frequency DDR3-1866.

    DRAM Timings tCL 9 - tRCD 10 - tRP 9 - tRAS 28

    DRAM Voltage 1.50V

    CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V

    Save, exit.

Make sure each kit of memory is installed in the same color slots.

    For your friend's system,

    set DRAM Frequency to DDR3-1866

CPU Host (bus) Frequency or FSB to 229

This will overclock DRAM Frequency to about ~DDR3-2137

Changing host frequency also increases CPU frequency, so lower that to 16X first for ~3.664GHz, then later after you stabilize memory, you can try 17X or higher.

Next, set DRAM timings for the memory:

    tCL 11 - tRCD 11 - tRP 11 - tRAS 30

    DRAM Voltage 1.60V

    CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V-0.20V

Save, exit, and let me know how that works.

The two modules should be in the same color slots furthest away from the CPU.

If you can succeed with this, I can help you tweak some more/overclock for more performance.

    Thank you

Thanks you, I will check once I get home from work. I didn't realize that you needed the same RAM kit and not 2 different ones of the same RAM! How embarrassing lol. Does the RAM have anything labeled on them showing me that they go together? Because I am not 100% sure I put them in the correct DIMM slots.

I will post the results when I can. And thanks for the laughs with the "You guys are looking for trouble eh"

Should be serial numbers on each stick, if you got these from the Egg, quite possible they'll all be consecutive

I?m currently having a similar problem...

I?m having a similar problem. This is my configuration:
          Mofo: 990FXA ud3
          Processor: 1055t
          Memory: f3-17000cl11d-8gbxl
I am currently having problems when getting my mobo to use the correcting timing for my ram. The mobo is detecting them at 1333 and my goal Is to put them at 2000 mhz (I think It might be difficult to get them at 2133 mhz). I can put the ?memory clock? at x8 and then get them at 1600mhz, but no more.
The BIOS is configured in ??load Optimized Defaults??. Finally, I have the lastest BIOS firmware (F8)
          What should I do?
