  • Can I Trade-in f3-17600CL ?

I paid roughly 200$ for 4gb of this ram and i find i am running out of ram in BF3.

I Want 8gb of ram so i don't have to run into any memory walls. I was considering just selling this, but i would trade it in for a cheaper 8gb set if possible?

12 should pretty much suffice, but it all depends and what you do, regardless, I'd suggest leaving a small page file, preferably on a mechanical drive, I don't ever like seeing one on an SSD, if that applies here

what purpose would a small page file serve on a mechanical drive? Wouldn't system performance and HD longevity be improved by removing the page file completely?

I could get a 24gb if u think i might run out of ram. Right now windows recommends a 6gb page file with my 4gb of ram.

I would think 12 is enough, just mentioned the mechanical because there are some applications that actually look for a page file, there are a lot of pros and cons on the subject, to me it only makes sense to have a mechanical drive (or more) if possible, especially when using an SSD (or more i.e. SSD RAID). System writes to SSDs are their bane and what reduces lifespan the most so if you multitask a lot or even just some, all the temps files from your apps and when you browse the net get written to a drive..I've got a pair of 120 SSDs in RAID 0 for OS and primary apps, but non static data files, videos, jpgs, all temp files (windows, Office, browsers, apps, etc) are sent to a 2 drive mechanical RAID 0, and some to one or the other of a pair of individual TB drives.

Yes, as I mentioned above, so complete the RMA procedures, and let them know you want to exchange for that kit.

                  Thank you

I assume you have Windows 7. 7 works much better with a page (swap) file than without regardless of how much RAM you have installed. As Tman said some apps looks for the page file and not RAM space or addresses. I set mine manually, minimum 1024MB, maximum 2048MB, which should be enough. With an i7 I don't think you will have any performance lags at all.
                    I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that.

That won't happen, i was without a computer for almost a month waiting for a response from G.Skill or, i shipped my ram to G.Skill on Saturday they were delivered at G.Skill on Monday did not get the jacked up replacement till over a week later. These were worse than the first, so again had to RMA, all this time i had no computer for my wife to conduct her part time business, one pissed off woman and her customers, i told G.Skill this and nothing was done to help me out. I had to purchase more ram, not G.Skill and they worked flawless.

Contact the RMA people, maybe you can pay for a replacement and get a refund when you send in the defective parts.
                          I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that.

I started the RMA process, I cant afford to put cash up unfortunatly. I guess i can detox from the PC for awhile.

Do you think if i gave them a tracking number when i ship the package they would expedite the process?
