  • Configure F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR?

    F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR, 16 gigs

    Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ R

    AMD FX-8120 3.1G 16M

    No overclocking, stock BIOS

The RAM is currently running at 1333 mhz. I saw in the feedback section of New Egg that it needs to be set to 1866. I'm new to the world of manually configuring RAM. I went into the bios and set it to 1866 - no boot. Apparently there are more steps involved. Please explain to me as you would a child, what do I need to do?

First make sure you have the latest BIOS, right now the mobo is setting the sticks to the default for the mobo, then try setting to 1866, not sure if your CPU will carry 16GB, will prob have to raise DRAM voltage + .05 to + .07, and take CPU/NB voltage up at least .1 ..........and to be honest may be better off at 1600, the 8120s MC (memory controller) really isn't all that strong

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Hmm, for the time being will it hurt anything to leave the RAM at 1333? I don't want to raise CPU temp until I have a better cooler on it.

Is the 8150's MC strong enough?

Cooling should be fine, the memory is still 1.50V. If you overclock to DDR3-2133 1.65V, then a better cooler would be necessary.

        8150 is definitely strong enough.

        For DDR3-1333, you can try 7-8-7-24 1.60V-1.65V or 8-8-8-24 1.50V.
