  • how to O.C. gskill memory

    Hello

I wanted to try to overclock these Gskill Ripjaw X's.Well i am not ashamed to say i need help.So let me give you just a liitle more insight on my new build.

    Motherboard:Asrock 990Fx Extream 3

    CPU: AMD FX 6100

    Memory: 16Gb od Gskill Ripjaw X 1333mhz 4x4gb

    PSU: 950w coolermaster

    Video: Visiontek HD 5670 @1gb

    HDD: 2x500gb WD

I would like to add a light overclock just for everyday usage.

To be honest i have never OverClocked any PC,but would like to do it safely as possible. Thanks ahead

curently the bios set up the timings to 9-9-9-24

Only be ashamed if you know you need help and you don't ask! =)

    Set DRAM Frequency DDR3-1600

    DRAM Timings - tCL 9 - tRCD 10 - tRP - 9 - tRAS 24

    DRAM Voltage 1.65V

    CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V

If this works, you can try to lower timings to see if the kit can do better.

Once that is done, you can overclock the CPU, it will increase performance much more.

    Thank you

Ok well, i managed to set the DRAM timings you have posted. Also the voltage is set to 1.65v.

But windows would not boot having DDR-1600 selected, and i am not quite sure what you mean when it comes to CPU-Northbridge voltage +0.1v. I do see the the option under the cpu OC drop down, but it doesn't state the voltage it's set to it just say's AUTO.I think you mean to set it +0.1 from where it is but it the bios is on auto and doesn't tell me the current voltage

Sorry for being a knuckle head, but really i have not overclocked a single pc.
