  • G.Skill Ripjaws tighter timings

    Forum:

I currently am running my rig a GA X58A-UD7 / i7 920 D0 / 12g of G.Skill modules stably @ 4.0 but would like to flirt with tighter timings which should help push the rig to the next level.

Here is what we have installed:

    8g (2x2g) F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM Type 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM Tech Spec Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB) Speed DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Cas Latency 7 7-8-7-24-2N .

    4g (2x2g) F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM Type 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM Tech Spec Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB) Speed DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Cas Latency 8 8-8-8-21.

My question is since there are 3 modules of G.Skill Ripjaws with two different latency and timings what is a safe advanced timing setting in my bios for each of the modules? And how do we go about making the changes in the bios.

    Thanks

    E

What does it show in CPU-Z under the memory tab, that will be what all the sticks are currently running at.

Looks good, all are running at 1600, 800 x 2 (double data rate) = 1600

          Taman:

If we wanted to oc the system any further would it help to go to higher clock speeds with our memory modules? My UD-7 mobo has a range of 1033-2100 depending on the modules you install. Which Ripjaws would you suggest not exceeding 1600 since we would like to purchase three modules.

          Thanks

Might look at one of these, both are 1600 sets, 1 at CL7 and 1 at CL8

Your mobo max's at 24 GB, so prob one of these three, the two are rather pricey, but both are CL7, the other is a CL9 set
