  • F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK DDR3 Timings

Just installed this F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK DDR3/1333 dual channel memory into a new motherboard (Gigabyte GA-p45t-es3g) upgrade to my PC. Factory timings are 8-8-8-24, (1.5v), but looking at the bios and CPU-Z, the timings are 9-9-9-24, 1.6v. Do I dare go into the BIOS and lower the timings to stock or is there something in the BIOS I need to further check out ? I have the BIOS set to default , and haven't "mucked" with anything (yet). I did run the Windows 7 memory test, and all is well. The PC is working fine.
    Thank you for the assistance.

This is your ram right ? They are actually 8-8-8-21 @ 1.5v

You can try manually setting timings and testing via booting from memtest86 usb key (http://www.memtest.org/#downiso)

Thanks, the stock timings are 8-8-8-21, @ 1.5v of this RAM. Before I mess with the timings, I was curious why the timings were being displayed as 9-9-9-24, @ 1.6v in the BIOS. As this point, the BIOS is set at the defaults . I have found the DRAMM settings and can change them.

Keep in mind, when you change timings and speed of memory, the first windows boot can be slow, probably windows is optimizing something. So don't judge quickly by windows boot time.

If you have problems, check memory with memtest.

Thank you I'll be watching for that. Any reason why the default timings are different than G.Skill stock timings ?

When you first install DRAM it will go to the closest default available in the BIOS, in your case looks like 1333, 9-9-9-24.....go ahead and change them to 8-8-8-21
