  • Recomendations fastest ddr3 for GA EP45T UD3P

    Hey all

Just wondering a few things in regards to ram compatibility. Im looking for the fastest ram to put 4gb x 2 into GA EP45T UD3P , the ram configurator only had GA EP45T UD3R which shows F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL (4Gx2) as a match.

I believe although the board states 2200+ speeds, most users only get 1600.

    1. Do the newer rams that state for chipset p55, p67 ect also work in older p45 chipset ?

    2. Would something like [ SNIPER ] F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR (4Gx2) work on p45, GA EP45T UD3P.

    3. Am I limited to 1066 mhz F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL (4Gx2)

    4.Can F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL (4Gx2) be overclocked to say 1200mhz?

With the P45 chipset, you'll need to be running the FSB about equal to the DRAM speed, so to run at at 2200 need a FSB of 2200. With the mobo 'rated' to 1600, that's into heavy OCing and will take quite a bit of adjusting/playing with voltages etc (also want to hope for a strong NB Chipset on the mobo)....As for running at 1600 FSB for 1600 sticks, will want a fairly strong CPU, and if you plan to OC w/ full multiplier, strongly suggest a third party CPU cooler. Not sure what CPU you are running but I've had the 1600 Snipers run fairly easily on the mobo with both a Q6600 and a Q9550. If unsure of OCing I'd suggest a 1333 set, like the Sniper 1333s, F3-10666CL9D-8GBSR

      Thanks for prompt reply,

@ the moment Im running q9550 with corsair H70 cooler, in a 780i with 8 gb (2gb X 4). I have had loads of trouble with n78 chipset with 4 dims. I have been able to get the fsb to 1900 and im in the process of tuning gtlret lanes.

Im ready to give up on 780i and am in the process of buying a 2nd hand GA EP45T UD3P. So that I can take the Fsb to 540 and get rid of 4 dims buy using 4x2 setup.

With fsb @ 2160 qdr what ram could be used?

If you can get the FSB to 2160 could prob run 2133 sticks, I haven't seen that mobo as that open to the high FSB, but that's just me

          G.Skill RipjawsX F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD

Would these sticks work regardless of speed , even down clocked?

          G.Skill RipjawsX F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD 8GB DDR3 2133MHz (2x4GB)

          Cheers

I imagine they would, prob downclocked, but while I often buy sticks for builds faster than the mobo's rated for I don't remember ever going that high on a P45 chipset
