  • Mixed RAM timings <> 2133mhz

    Motherboard: ASRock p67 Extreme4 BIOS v2.10 (Latest)
    CPU: i7 2600k @ Stock
    RAM: 2x4 Ripjaws X 2133 = 11-11-11-30
    2x2 Ripjaws X 2133 = 9-11-9-28

So I just bought some new RAM and i'm having trouble getting my computer to accept 2133mhz timings. Right now its defaulting to 1333. I've tried AUTO and some manual timings but i'm afraid i'm going to mess something up..... which is why i'm here.

Before I bought the new RAM, I was running 4GB (2x2) Ripjaws X 2133mhz 9-11-9-28. It was running at 2133 just fine. However, I just bought some 2x4GB Ripjaws X 2133mhz 11-11-11-30 RAM and now I can't get all 12 to run at 2133. Anyone have any suggestions?

    NEW: (2x4)

    Ive tried the following:
    AUTO @ 2133
    11-11-11-30
    9-11-9-28
    9-9-9-28

With the large differences in the BASE CL (9 vs 11), and with how touchy sticks are at 2133, I doubt you'll get the two to play together at 2133, might try 1866 at 9-10-9-30, 1.6 (maybe 1.55), 2T, VCCIO 1.2

I was afraid of that. Thank you for your quick response! I'll try what you suggested and if it doesn't work, I guess I will just stick with the 8GB and sell the other 4.

Well, let us know how it goes, and 8GB is good amount for the majority of users, though 12 would be nice

Oh I will. I play BF3 at Ultra settings and it uses well over 3GB by itself... not counting the OS or any other programs. Some maps that it loads get even higher! haha
