  • F3-14900CL9Q-16GB and MSI 990FXA-GD80/AMD 8120

What are the recommended setting to get the full potential (1877Mhz) out of the memory. When I run the RAMs at 1877Mhz the system says there is only 12GB available, I have the CPU-NB Voltage set to 1.65, DRAM Timing is Linked and DRAM Voltage is 1.5V.

Do you have the latest BIOS, 11.6? They've been working on memory compatibility, the latest is dated 10/24/11 and they have been popping 1 major update a month since the mobo was released. Can find the latest here:

Yes, I do have the latest BIOS. I have been able to get up to 14.97 GB on 1300 MHZ. I guess the Voltage is the issue.

CPU/NB voltage sounds to high, DRAM voltage may need to be higher, vCore may be low, but not sure what set you have, need the last digits of the model # like SR, RL XL, XM, etc the few that come after the 16GB........might also check the CPU socket and ensure no bent/broken pins or any thermal compound seeped into socket.

          It's XL

          XMP cl9-10-9-28 1.5V

When I change to 1600Mhz Available system memory jumps up to 14.7GB.

Is it the F3-14900CL9Q-16GBZL or F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL, with either, may need the DRAM voltage up to 1.55 (possibly higher) and CPU/NB 1.3 (again possibly higher)...but also, go to My Computer, right click, select properties, then see what it shows under installed memory just a couple spots below the WEI rating....since Win7 Home Premium 64 only can work w/ 16GB, you may have lost some to reserved hardware
(can look in Resource Monitor which will provide with Available and cached RAM = Total and Installed

              F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL

16GM installed 14.7GB available at 1600Mhz. I will try to change the voltage again under 1866 Mhz.

Could you post your BIOS settings so I can take a look, the mobo should default to settings acceptable for 1866 (it's the CPUs native speed), so it may be settings are off or you have a CPU that just can't handle 4 sticks, have seen a few of these with the Dozer

                      CPU-NB Frequency ~2800 MHz

                      CPU-NB Voltage 1.20V

                      DRAM Voltage 1.50V

                      Reinstall Windows.
