  • 2x12GB RAM F3-12800CL7T-12GBSR + Asus REIII XMP-Profile - CR3 ?

    Hi!

    I own two Kits (2x12GB) of F3-12800CL7T-12GBSR

    http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=392

The good thing is, they have a serial number like a 24 GB-Kit.
(It fits perfectly with the last numbers)

I went to the Bios and load the XMP Profile, all works fine - but i doesnt load the "T2" timing - only "T3" - my Asus Rampage Extreme III MB called it "CR2 or CR3".

    Why is that so?

CPU-Z 1.58 tells me that "T1" is the actual setting - thats wrong!
But i tells me the correct xmp. Profile Setting of "T2" (and not T3) wich the Asus REIII load in the xmp-Profile.

    Aida64 (V1.85.1600)

Tells me in the Benches "CR3",

when i change CR3 to CR2 in the Bios it seems to be working - i have to test it.

What do you think its all ok?

I used Bios 1401 and 1502 - but it doesnt change the CR3/CR2 thing...

    BTW: I use a 980X

    Sorry for my english

Edit: the setting is "Comand Rate".

Will need to turn XMP off (it doesn't work with multiple sets) and set up manually to base specs, then if problems, prob want to start by raising DRAM voltage + .05 or so and get back to us

Has a one 24GB Kit the same behavior?

      or will xmp work correctly?

      Edit:

      I'm testing with Prime95, these two Kits works fine @DDR1600 CL7-8-7-24 T2 @ 1,5xx V and playing Left4D 2 at the same time.

It looks that i dont have any problems,
all other Bios voltages are set "manually" to the defaut minimum voltages. PQI only @ 1,200V (i have never problems with 1,200V with many Mem-Kits).

      I think my 980X is a good CPU with a good mem-controller.

XMP is programmed into the SPD of a set, if you have 2 sticks the advanced timings will be different from a 3 or a 4 stick set (as an example the tRFC typically goes up the more sticks you have, so with 2 sticks it might require a tRFC of 74 but with 4 sticks it might be 88 (or whatever), so enabling it with a pair of two stick sets you'd be at 74 which would not be stable.

System is looking good and like all Intel CPUs the 980X has a very good MC

Thank you very much for your help and the informations!

          These are my Bios settings:

          QPI/DRAM Voltage: 1,2000V
DRAM BUS Voltage: 1,52375V (can't use less voltage, Prime95 would not run stable)

Did you see something on the pictures that i can optimize?

          Something that i can try?

          Thanks!

Looks pretty good, as long as stable

              Thanks!

i have to raise the DRAM BUS Voltage from 1,51050V to 1,52375V,
              needs more testing

That's still reasonable, just when raising go in small increments.

Now i change the comand rate from "t2" to "t1",

and Prime95 runs since 7h perfect - with some games playing at the same time.

If i know more, i let you now!

Sounds even better, 1T will be better performance wise, can run a Benchmark program at 1T and then again at 2T and should show 1T a little better
