  • F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL vs. F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL?

The title shows it: these are both 2x4GB sets of 10666 DDR memory. On has 8GBRL the other has 8GBXL in the title. I can't see any spec difference.

Both are 9-9-9-24, 1.5v. The RL specifically lists 2N timing. The XL specs don't list a timing number.

The both have heat-spreaders, with just a slight difference in look. There's a one dollar price difference.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,
    Ken

They both have a rated CR of 2N (or 2T) the Ripjaws X (with the X in the model #) is a newer model designed for newer generation of CPUs and around the P67, H67, Z68 chipsets, though it runs fine in most all chipsets (as do the original Ripjaws)....just a little finer tuning in the programming.

Inquary for more information and clarifications

      Hello,

In order to see if I correctly understand, I would like to verify:
I have gigabyte motherboard model: H67MA-UD2H-B3
The information about my motherboard can be found here:
      http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3768#sp

Specifically, the memories that are qualified (tested to work fine) with my motherboard are described in the following list:
      http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileLi...ma-ud2h-b3.pdf

According to the above list qualified G.SKILL DDR3 1333 memories are:
      F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL
      and
      F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH

      1. What is the difference between these two ? (F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL, F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH)

      2. Will F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL be good to my computer as well ? (it is not written in the compatible memories list published by Gigabyte).

      3. Which one of the 3 memories mentioned above is the best for my computer and what makes it better then others ?

      4. When comparing F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL and F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL - which memory will be compatible with more machines ?

      Thanks,
      -- Amit.

The Ripjaws X are designed for the P67/H67/Z68 chipsets, so would prob be the better overall choice, the regular Ripjaws (here RL and RH, there's also an RM) are the original Ripjaws. Diff in the first question, between RL and RH is the RH is higher performance coming in with a CL7 vs the RL CL9. All the sets will work fine with most all mobos

          Hi,
          Thanks for your fast response.

I did not understand your terminology / slang - 'most all mobos'...

Just to be sure that I understand well, is it true to say that the XL series will work well on my motherboard as replacement to any RL/RH models like I mentioned above ?

          Thanks.

Yes, the X in XL stands for Ripjaws X, which is the line of DRAM designed primarily for the P67/H67/Z68 chipsets, your is a H67, the the X models are more tuned to the chipset than the R models (R is for the original Ripjaws (just for info the L=Low, M=Medium and H=High and is sort or proportional to the OCing potential of the sticks)

Sorry for asking so many questions...

              Hi Again,

Sorry for asking so many questions.

I found more memories that may fit my PC in eBay and would like to know if they should work with my PC or not.

Specific model in question - F3-10666CL9D-8GBSR

What is the Spinner series ?
Will it fit my motherboard as well (motherboard's description in my previous posts of this thread).

If you can answer and in addition give me direction to a memory selection guide in G.Skill site - I will be more independent.

Thanks again and Happy new year !

              Amit.

Those would be the Sniper , rather than Spinner series. Yes they would work fine, sort of all purpose DRAM, I use a ton of them, very versatile, OC well, have those in a couple of my main systems. Can go to GSkill's RAM Configurator page, which will give you some (but not all) options, can be found here:

the configurator does not work well

                  http://www.gskill.com/configurator2....w==&model=1477

For my motherboard it returns result of no matching memory - not even one...

Please pass this to relevant persons in your company.

                  Happy new year !

I'll let them know, my guess is that it's a mobo they haven't gotten in to test, or may be in a backlog of those to test, there are times they don't get all the mobos out there, same is true of the mobo manufacturers, it would be almost impossible to try and test every set of DRAM that's available, guessing here, but believe GSkill prob has over 50 individual sticks and sets that could possibly fit the mobo parameters of your mobo alone, and about 150 that could work with an H79 chipset mobo, so it's a very timeconsuming matter to test the mobos and sticks
