GIGABYTE Amd a8 w sniper 8g
Hey guys i recently purchased the
GIGABYTE GA-A75-UD4H FM1 AMD A75
mobo from newegg with the amd a8 cpu
I also put in some G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR
I didnt know about any bios timing so i built the computer how i normally do put windows 7 on everything runs perfect for about 3 days. But now If i can get it in windows its ok until i leave it idle. It will blank screen, I will turn it off and about 90% of the time on start up i get no video no beeps nothing i unhook everything but the cpu and memory and same thing no video if i keep trying its rare i can even get into the bios. Not sure what to do at this point.

well.. still getting BSOD's.... not as often as originally, but still get 'em... some times will happen while I'm actively using the pc... some times it will happen after I've let it sit for a while and the screensaver has been on.. i'll come back to find a BSOD...
settings are 8-8-8-24.. 2T... row cycle 40... voltage set to 1.5...
last few times, error was Page Fault in non-paged area or something like that...
it's pain not having a stable/reliable system, especially when it's a brand new build... wondering if/when it's gonna crash the next time... uuugghhh...

ok... I went to go through the settings listed for AMD DDR3-1600 ram... and my bios doesn't have a lot of the options/settings that are mentioned...
again, I have the Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H motherboard, the F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM ripjaws... and the motherboard has an Award BIOS, which I just updated it the other day to the latest F5 version of the BIOS for my motherboard...
Also, I have the new AMD A8-3850 APU processor... (AMD fusion, with ati radeon 6550hd gpu)
and I should note, that this motherboard and AMD APU processor support up to 1866mhz memory natively... motherboard supports higher, but the AMD APU would have to be overclocked for anything 2000mhz or higher... so even with everything on auto, my ram did show up as running at 1600mhz already... but timings were not set to ram specs, so I manually adjusted things...
Now, In the BIOS settings:
I don't have northbridge frequency/speed, so can't check/change that to 2400mhz...
I don't have cpu host/bus frequency (Ref Clock), so can't check/change that from 200-240...
I don't have CPU-NB Voltage, so can't check/change that...
I don't have QPI/VTT memory controller voltage available to change...
etc etc...
now, unless the naming conventions in this new BIOS are totally different, I don't see any of those items that are mentioned throughout your tutorials...
I've provided links to screenshots of the M.I.T. Section and DRAM settings sections from my BIOS... maybe you can help point out if things ARE actually there but are named/called something different??? that way I'd be able to try a few different things based on tutorials/suggestions I've seen posted....
Please let me know what you think/see from these screenshots.... Thanks!!

oh, and I tried to run memtest... it was a no-go... I created the bootable CD for memtest from their iso... booted from the cd... and the pc just keeps rebooting... I get to the bios message "Loading operating system..."... then the cd starts going, and displays "Loading................." then the pc reboots... and keeps going through that cycle...

Sorry for the late response.
The new fusion platforms are slightly different, so all the technical values you mentioned in post# 21 are not longer present. Have you tried the EOCP? If you manually input DRAM frequency, timings, and voltage, it should work. If not, send the memory in for RMA to see if a new it works better.
Thank you

I did find some info on other sites:
FCH Voltage = NB Voltage (chipset)
APU VDDP Voltage = video/gpu voltage
CPU NB VID Control = CPU-NB Voltage (memory controller)
as you can see from my screenshots, I've already manually put in the dram frequency, timing and voltage... still get BSOD's randomly...
The other night, I slightly increased CPU NB VID Control voltage... system worked fine for hours for the rest of the night... now tonight, i've had 2 BSOD's already.. but then it's been running fine now for a few hours...
As for the new EOCP option I have.. I went into there, and it has choices/selections for 1866, 2000, 2100, 2400, and Profile 1 - whatever the hell that one is for LOL ... so no, I did not select any of those, since this gskill ram I have is 1600...
what if I set 'em to 9-9-9-24 instead of 8-8-8... ?? will that help any or make a difference??Last edited by 06MonteSS; 09-14-2011, 04:50 PM.

the multiplier is set to x8 already and frequency is 1600... timings, voltage, etc are all set manually to the 8-8-8-24, 2T.. 1.5v.. actually, I even upped the voltage a little to 1.525...
as for memtest, as I posted above the other day, I tried to run memtest... it was a no-go... I created the bootable CD for memtest from the iso from their site... booted from the cd... and the pc just keeps rebooting... I get to the bios message "Loading operating system..."... then the cd starts going, and displays "Loading................." then the pc reboots... and keeps going through that cycle...
