  • 8GB Kit for Sandy Bridge questions

I'm new to the 8GB kit as I recently migrated from 4GB kit. I'd like to ask you a few questions regarding the 8GB memory kit for Sandy Bridge.

I currently have the 1866 MHz CL9-10-9-28 8GBSR running at 1866 CL8-10-9-27 on i7 2600K. My questions are as follow.

    1. Is it necessary to increase VccIO and VccSA when running 4GBx2 ram at 2133MHz on i7 2600K? (supposedly the 8GB 2133MHz kit)
    2. Why the F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD(9-11-9-28) is retailed at higher price than F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM(9-11-10-28)?
    3. (In relation to question No.2) Why F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD(9-11-9-28) has tighter timing than the F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM(9-11-10-28)? (Isn't the XM series more premium than the XL series?)
    3. Will G.Skill release the 8GB 2133MHz XH(D) memory kit?

    P.S. M/B is Asus P8P67 Pro

Thank you in advance for your response!

    1. Possibly, depends on the overall setup, OC, etc
    2. Pricing is up to the retailer though with the sets you show, the first comes with a DRAM cooling fan
    3. Good question, and I don't know the answer, maybe Gkill can chime in Wed
    4. The F3-17000CL7D-4GBXHD can be found here: http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=369
(and the are very, very fast, similar to 2300 at CL9)

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Guess I have to wait for answers from G.Skill rep then.
For #4, I mean the 8GB Kit. I sold my 2133C8-4GBXHD kit already as the 2133XMD overclocks better. I got my 2133C8-4GBXMD running at 2133/7-9-7-20 1T 1.63v prime stable.

        Hi,

"Why F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD(9-11-9-28) has tighter timing than the F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM(9-11-10-28)? (Isn't the XM series more premium than the XL series?)"
it's not quite true that XM always better than XL series, most of the time the XM series is more premium than XL series(with same brand of IC chips), but not always if we are using different IC chips sometimes.

Okay.. The only chips in 4GB module that's capable of running at 2133MHz at the moment is Hynix BFR H9C. How about other questions?

            hi,

our admin already answer the question,
            1. that's really depends by how do you setup the system, if you OC, you may need to adjust it,
if not, you don't need to do anything about it.
            4. you can find it here:http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=369

              That's the 4GB Kit. I'd like to know about 8GB kit (2x4GB) XH(D).
