G Skill F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD

I have just installed the G. Skill kit F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD on my new PC.
And two questions popped up.

1 - Is it possible to turn off the lights of the RAM Cooler?

2- How can I change the speed of the memory? Is it done in the operational system (I'm using openSUSE 11.4) or in the SETUP of the motherboard?

Primarily it's done through the BIOS of the mobo itself. As to the lights, no switch that I know of, imagine you could snip the lead to the lights and cap it off, but not something I've tried. Have had clients remove the fans with no ill effects, i.e. no real heat buildup
