I have an Intel DX58SO2 motherboard with an Intel Core i7-960 with Gskill RipJaw 12GB Triple-Channel 1600DDR3 memory.
I have the RAM plugged in the blue DIMM sockets. BIOS sees each stick of ram, however it?s not at the correct clock speed. The RAM is clocked at 1066mhz.
I have attempted to override these settings adjusting the clock speed to 1600 and this results in the motherboard reverting the settings back to default.
I have performed a search on various forums including newegg product reviews and people have said they have had success with this type of ram by simply setting the XMP profile. I have also tried setting the 1600 profile using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility with no success. Upon restart the utility tells me it reverted the settings back to default due to improper settings.
Is it safe to assume since BIOS keeps reverting the speed back to 1066 one of the memory modules might be faulty?
