  • RAM TiMiNG (question)‏

    Hi!

I bought this RMA KiT here --> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231276

    4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333Mhz CL7

but, in the BIOS of my GIGABYTE GA-MA78LMT-S2 Motherboard,
    bought here --> http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Socke.../ref=de_a_smtd

it detects the RAM's SPD (Serial Presence Detect) as a Case Latency 9
    and not Case Latency 7!!

Now, i know i can change this manually...

However, which RAM settings i need to change exactly in order to enjoy Case Latency 7 Timing??

i see at least 3 ram options one under the other that are set at --> 9T

    whatever that means...

Should i change those 3 ram options to --> 7T

    ???

see this video here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwZLRqOXQFw

you'll see which ram timing options i have!!

    thanks alot!!!

At 1333 set your base timings to 7-7-7-21, DRAM voltage to 1.5, CR (Command Rate) to 2N (or 2T if it uses the T) and leave the rest at AUTO

oh one thing you might know,
i tried to OC my RAM to 1600MHz in my BIOS,,,
                  Saved and exited,,,

When booting, it still showed 1333Mhz so,
motherboard doesnt let me stay at 1600Mhz i guess,,,
it kinda reverted the clock itself back to 1333Mhz,,

                  this normal?

                  thx

Yes, with incorrect settings, it will revert to default. Otherwise your computer will not boot if it does not do that.

                    Thank you

                      oh ok, seems logical :P

but uhm, is there a way to run my RAM at 1600MHz?

                        Yes, DDR3-1600 8-8-8-24 1.550V should work fine.

                        Thank you

would that timing & clock be faster then 1333Mhz 7-7-7-21 ???

and if YES, which i suppose, i havent found where i can set the voltage to 1.550V

                          thnx

It depends, results can slightly differ from system to system. You can use a memory benchmark test to see which is best.

Look in your motherboard user's manual for DRAM Voltage setting.

                            Thank you

ok i'll verify this, i saw a ram voltage option but,
i didnt see 1.55V in the possible voltage setting....
