  • M4A88T-M LE and F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL getting deep freezes

So I just got done building my new PC with:
    Motherboard - Asus M4A88T-M LE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131673

    Memory- G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231311

    Processor- AMD Phenom II X4 840 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103921

When I leave it idle, it usually has no problems running. The second I start to actually put the computer to use, it randomly deep freezes and I'm forced to reset. No blue screens or anything of that sort, just random deep freezes (cannot move mouse or anything). At first I thought it was the PSU but turns out that wasn't the problem.

I realize that this type of RAM is not on the QVL on the ASUS mobo i have purchased and I'm now regretting that i didn't do any research before buying. I have heard it has to do with timings? Can someone please explain what the problem is?

    Thank you.

    What PSU are you using?
And have you manually entered the memory timings and voltage in your bios?
Lastly, bios updates can sometimes correct these type of problems, have you updated the bios lately?

      My PSU is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005

I'm kind of new to this so I'm not sure how to do the whole BIOS timings/Voltages. I have not updated the BIOS. Again, this is my first computer that I have built this is all new to me.

Not sure if this helps, but that's what my settings are at.

Test one module at a time to see if one may be bad causing issues.

          Thank you

Great PSU, most definitely would rule it out for the moment.
Google memory timings, it's the way I learned, and is really easy once you become familar with the settings.
With an AMD platform, it is crucial to enter the timings and voltage in the bios, don't let them run on auto.
I would highly recommend that you update your bios since it is probably running with the original bios release.

Already did that, it does the same thing with one in at a time.

If any problems after the BIOS update, would suggest starting by setting Command Rate to 2T from the current 1T

Yup, it actually did the same thing after the update. I'll try your suggestion and keep updated.

Be around for awhile tonight, then you'll have GSkill in the AM

It ended up running for awhile, but it froze again after the switch. Any suggestions?

Raise DRAM voltage .05....then if still off, raise the CPU/NB just a bit, maybe same .05 or up to .07

So you're saying raise it to 1.6

Did as you suggested. When I raised the DRAM voltage it still freezes. When I raised the CPU/NB it doesn't even load up windows...freezes at "Welcome" so I set it back down.
