  • BSODs, please help me am gonna break soon :)

    Hello,

I'm facing Memory management/Page File related BSODs lately, this is a new computer and here are the spec:

    MOBO: Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 (LGA1155, DDR3 1333)
Graphics Card : Sapphire AMD Radeon 6950 2GB
    RAM (8GB): 2 x G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2GB DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 Kit CL7-8-7-24 F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM

NOTE: I ran memtest86+ for ~30 hours, prime95 blend test for 3 hours => no errors.
    looks like BIOS.
    what do you think?

    - What BIOS settings are recommended?
    - do you know any program that tunes up my BIOS or do you recommend any?

I am kinda a newbie please help!

    Thanks a lot!

Do you have the latest BIOS F4, could be found here

    http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...3765&dl=1#bios

Otherwise, with two separate sets of sticks you'd want to start with stock timings, CR at 2, and may want to raise DRAM voltage up + .05. From there, you can try playing with the MC voltage (raising) and possibly the CPU voltage, just a tad. What it may be is that you have two sets of the same model, but they may not want to play together.

Hi, I upgraded to F4 and now memtest fails!!!

I have no idea why, and I don't understand that much in Hardware, DRAM voltage, MC voltage and CP voltage, stock timings? CR at 2? say nothing to me, I expected that default settings will do well.

Any optimal BIOS settings for those?

raising DRAM voltage up to +.05? start from what?
raise CPU and MC voltage? starti from what also? and how much? please in numbers.

Thanks but am really getting crazy about it......

Start by going into the BIOS, enable XMP and then select the 1600 settings, and try it that way, should be fine. Then if you get a BSOD - write down the error code and come back.....with the new BIOS you should be fine, am thinking you may have a bad driver somewhere or a prob in the OS

          1) enable XMP profiles? there is disabled and profiles1 , you mean I choose profiles 1 right?
          2) how do I set it to 1600Mhz? there is:
          Vcore 1.245V
          DRAM Voltage 1.500V
          QPI/Vtt Voltage 1.050V

Can you please tell me what is relevant and what to change? I am a newbie and don't know what they actually mean.
Would be grateful for a brief explanation.

          Looking forward for your help,
          Thanks a lot!

            Hi, I put your settings.

            I got a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD error code 0x0000001A

last file crashed in stack was ntoskrnl.exe

            Thanks.

Send them in for RMA and request a 2 x 4GB RipJaws X kit instead.

              Such as one of these:

              F3-10666CL7D-8GBXH
              F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH

These should work much better for your motherboard.

              Thank you

sorry but what is RMA? i bought them from Israeli store (I live in Israel), I have 3 years guarantee, but I need to send it to their laboratory and pay them to check it until they get convinced, more over, I don't think it doesn't fit my motherboard, it is just the settings.

anyway, I raised the VTT to 1.1, if it doesn't work I will send it to the store, am sick of it.

but what is RMA? how can it help?

                  RMA is return merchandise authorization.

What you can do is ask the store to give you a 2 x 4GB (8GB) kit instead of two 4GB kits. You should only use one kit, so if you need 8GB, an 8GB kit is best.

                  Thank you

                    buying new ktis

                    Hi,

I decided to buy new specs (my computer shop said they will give me 70% credit of my current kits).

                    Anyway, my specs are:
                    Sandy Bridge i7 2600K 2nd Generation
                    AMD Radeon 6950 2GB
                    P67A-UD3-B3 motherboard

                    Now I have 2x ( F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM‎ ) - 8GB of two 2x2 sets.

I wanna change it and buy 2x4GB (Better right?)

now which should I choose out of these:

I believe number 1 is the best as it is written that it is designated for Sandybridge CPU's, but just need your recommendation and OK - I don't wanna waste another 200$ for stupid personal decisions

                    Thanks

Any of the three should work, but your right that the Ripjaws X would prob be best, as they are designed for the P67

What are the best BIOS settings for such combination?
P67 and the said memory card?

Install the sticks, enable XMP and set your speed, should be good to go, from there you can manually adjust to try and pick up performance some more

what VTT? vcore voltage? what speed? I am not that good into adjusting BIOS settings, isn't there any optimized settings? like, in gskill website it is written that the kits were tested on this mobo, what's the bios settings in the said tests?
