  • No AI Overclock Tuner on ASUS M4A79XTD EVO

Hello all. I have 4 gigs of G.Skill DDR3 1600 ram and an Asus motherboard running an AMD 965BE Quad core. I wanted to change my ram timings to run at 1600mhz instead of the 800mhz it is currently. All of the posts I have seen here say to use the AI Overclock Tuner feature. The only problem is that I do not have the AI Overclock Tuner feature in my BIOS. I have used the search function several times and found nothing relating to installing AI Overclock Tuner. Is it a software package or a BIOS update?

    My hardware specs are:

    Motherboard - ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX

    Ram - G.Skill 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ - 2x2gig sticks. I just ordered another 2x2gig sticks from Newegg, they will be here in a few days.

    CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 125w - HDZ965FBGMBOX

Bios version is currently 0703 according to system information in my BIOS.

I do not have much experience overclocking and do not usually overclock my computer. I just want my ram to run at advertised speeds. I have an aftermarket CPU cooler and several 120mm case fans and a 750 watt power supply, overclocking should no be an issue. Idle temps for my CPU are around 30c average.

    Thanks ahead of time!

Believe your mobo uses the TurboV OCing utility, should be included on the mobo CD or DVD or can download from ASUS for latest/greatest

If you're referring to it showing up in CPU-Z as 800MHz, then you're running at 1600MHz.
Keep in mind that the effective rate is always 2x, so 800MHz x2 = 1600MHz.
Hard set the memory frequency, timings, and DRAM voltage in your bios.
