  • M4A89GTD with a pair of F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

has anyone gotten these two to pair up and work correctly?
i have 2 of the ram sticks in slots next to each other (A1 and B1).
that was the only way it would boot up
i can run windows 7 fine and it detects all 8 GB
if i try to run the ram sticks in alternating slots, A1 and B1 that will not boot

when i first updated the bios to the most current one, and i booted into windows, it recognized them as running in dual channel unganged.
after awhile, it switched back to single channel
i have tried setting the changes in bios:

dram voltage: 1.55 as well as 1.6
    cpu/nb voltage: 1.25
dropping the dram speed to 1333

here are my settings per CPU-Z:

Could you post your actual BIOS settings and what CPU/speed are you running, first thoughts CPU/NB may need 1.3 and vCore may need to go up a little for 8GB

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

      BTW..i have a amd phenom 1090T 3.2 Ghz..

I will have to post more of the bios info when i get home later on today.

So even in the same colored slots, you got the same results above? "Single Channel"?

        Thank you

the pc will not boot or even POST with them in the same color slots.
the MemOK red light stays "on" on the mobo
          no post beeps either

Must be a bad motherboard or CPU... you need to replace parts to see which is causing the problem.

is that a wild guess? because its a pain having to RMA items back and forth when you have to ship it. i dont see how it could be the processor.
and lets say if i used different sticks of ram, that would conclude the mobo is good?

not to mention these sticks are not on the QVL for the mobo

                  I have a ASUS M4A89GTD, AMD 1090T, and this ram (F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL).
It worked fine with no tweaking needed. Later I added more and now with all 4 slots filled it works without changing any settings.

No way, I do not offer wild guesses. I only suggest what I believe may help the situation.

If you can get a hold of other sticks to try, that would be perfect. That would help you cancel memory as an issue.

Based on my experience, this issue is commonly 75% motherboard 15% CPU 10% memory

So hopefully replacing the motherboard can solve your issues. There is surely no compatibility issue as samwe stated, it is a very popular combo.

                    Thank you

been on vacation so havent had a chance to get back...but
my apologies..i listed the wrong set of memory sticks..they are actually

                      F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

I have tried to increase the CPU/NB to 1.3
I have tried to increase DRam Voltage to 1.6

                      Still nothing.
I really do not want to get a new mobo...but maybe if funds permit, im gonna order another of the same set of memory.

But I dont see how it could be the sticks, because they both POST fine with them in the 1st slot, one at a time.

Before ordering/rma your mobo might want to take a can of compressed air and blow out the DRAM slots and clean the connections of the DRAM sticks (suggest rubbing alcohol) also may want to pull the CPU and make sure no thermal compound got into the socket or the on the bottom of the CPU

i have not blown out the ram slots yet, but im sure there is nothing in them.
i was thinking of maybe ordering another set of the same sticks?

if the pc is not booting with 2 sticks in alternate slots, will the pc boot with all 4 slots filled with sticks?

what's also interesting is during POST bootup, it sees all 8 GB of ram as well as states it is in unganged mode?

but in cpu-z in windows, it says single with the speed at 800mhz?
someone shine something on me that i may be missing here?

                              Unganged mode is correct.

You must have them installed in wrong slots if it shows single channel. If they are installed in same colored slots but still shows single channel, then surely something is wrong with motherboard or CPU.

Speed is 800MHz, that is the real frequency. The effective frequency is x2 (DDR - double data rate) so 800MHz x 2 = DDR3-1600.

                              Thank you
