  • F3-17066CL7D-4GBPIS vs 2133mhz Ripjaw X

Hi. I have recently purchased F3-17066CL7D-4GBPIS - Pi Series 2133 mhz 7-10-7-27 1.65v memory which says that it was specifically designed for P55 and i7 8xx CPUs. I bought this memory for my new Sandy Bridge system with P67 mobo. Now i see that G.Skill has released a whole new line-up of RipJaw X specifically for Sandy Bridge and they have a model with the exact same specs as my "older" Pi Series memory i just purchased. Will my new memory be compatible with the Sandy Bridge and what is the different in the CHIPS on the memory b/w Pi Series and and this new RipJaw X ? Is the new line up just a rebrand with a new heat spreader or they are specifically tested with Sandy Bridge ?

Difference between PIs and Ripjaws ins in the ICs. The PIs should work w/ SandyBridge. And on the Ripjaws vs RipjawsX not positive if it's different ICs or not (yet), but the ICs are set up specifically for SandyBridge is my understanding thus far

Thanks for the reply. I got a little nervous there for a second that my new memory won't be compatible with Sandy B. The model I would prefer from the new line up is not even for sale yet so that Pi series was my only choice.

I think there is a problem. I have built my system with the p67a- UD5 and I can't change any memory timings at all form the bios. Whatever i change it does not stick and it just stays at its AUTO settings wich is 1333 mhz Cl6-6-6-20 2T. When i put the X.M.P profile it puts the memory at 2133 mhz CL6-6-6-20 1T and it is not stable at all. I also tried the original F2 bios and it is the same thing with the latest F5 bios which im using right now... Any suggestions ?

Haven't touched one yet, will pull down a manual later and see what it offers, sounds like the DRAM may need to be set to manual settings, might look for something to that effect, will try and get back this PM

Im trying to change ANYTHING related to timings on the mobo but it wont stick at all. I change timings i go back to windows and its still at 6-6-6-20. I leave it at 1333 mhz change timings manually and doesn't stick. I truly hope i am missing something here.

Tradesman !!!!! FALSE ALARM, im INCOMPETENT !!! I have stuck both sticks next to each other on a single channel and was wondering WTF was goind on... Now when i put them in the right places, everything is working flawlessly. X.M.P. profile is also working perfectly. I have not tried to manually change timings, but im pretty sure it will work now. Thank god it was me...

It can take awhile, keep track of where you are at (document settings) and what you try....and let us know how things go if you would, may be of help to others

Ok guys after a week of testing and clcoking i have come across some issues. I think the mobo is just not compatible with the memory. When i shut down my system and when i decide to turn it on, the motherboard start and than restarts by itself and returns the memory back to 1333mhz CL9. Aftter that when i enter the bios and select SAVE and EXIT it loads fine w/o restarting. Basically there is a cold boot issue with the memory and revetrs it back to 1333mhz CL9. I think maybe you guys send them a pair so that they can add compatibility or soemthing with a newer bios.

The system itself is stable for 4 hours PRime95 Small FFTs, memtest for 1 hour, linX , linpack . It just doesnt want to properly cold boot witht he memory at its default specs...
