  • RAM isn't showing correctly in CPU-Z

CPU: Heka 740 BE (overclocked to 3.6ghz x4)
    MOBO: ASRock 890fx Deluxe 3
    RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

    Problems:
3:10 (FSBRAM)? Not quite sure what that means.
PC3-10700. Should be at 12800. (Potential problem)

    ...help!

I should note that it reads the same at stock settings.

DO you have the DRAM set up manually? sort of looks like you have the DRAM linked to the FSB....

Should I just disregard what CPU-Z shows in the Max Bandwidth field on the SPD tab in CPU-Z? Memory tab is indicating 800mhz. Hmmm

Here is an updated video on my Bios if that helps any: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ksIB...=youtube_gdata

Will check the video when I get back in, but if the memory tab is showing 800, then it's at 1600, the DRAM is Dual-Data Rate so you take the 800 times 2 (=1600)

I'm running intel burntest right now to see what's up with the RAM.
Memory tab in CPU-Z says it's 800mhz but SPD tab says it's 667mhz maximum.
You think my memory is really running at 1600mhz (800x2)?

Test results for Intel Burntest on Maximum memory testing:
            Time (s) Speed (GFlops) Result
            357.489 43.3109 3.240663e-002
            340.027 45.5352 3.240663e-002
            334.165 46.3339 3.240663e-002
            342.536 45.2016 3.240663e-002
            326.864 47.3689 3.240663e-002
Says available RAM in Intel Burntest is 7055MB. Shouldn't it be saying 8GB?
The Memory Clock Gadget in windows 7 says it's running at 90%. Are these things all normal for 8GB when running this test? Perhaps those are better questions for the overclocking forums. I've been talking to them as well.

I just want to make sure my RAM is running at 1600mhz 8gb. The Cpu-Z thing confuses me too... Perhaps my CPU just doesn't say it's 12800 but in reality it is? Help me great G.Skill Trademan-. The RAM is stable for a fact, it did pass the Burntest afterall. I just wamt to make sure I'm getting out everything that it was marketed as.

Might try Speccy, can be downloaded from here:

              http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy

when you click on RAM it will list Type, size, that it's dual channel, then the frequency, which will be 800 for your 1600 (Again dual) if your at 1333 it will show 667, 800 will show 400 etc

Shows same as CPU-Z. I'm just confused about the Max Bandwidth thing hmmm. It should indicate 12800, right?

Believe it's reading the from the default of the BIOS which is 1333 for the max bandwidth because it reads that from the JEDEC standards i.e. my UD3R shows the BIOS default also of 6400 which is 800 DRAM whether I run 800, 1066 or 1200 sticks

Makes sense. So it's running at 1600mhz for sure, right?

Sure sounds like it, you could try running benchmarks on it i.e. SiSandra, PassMark, Everest etc they will provide some additional info for you.

Yes, it sure is. "Max bandwidth" in CPU-z is the same for any DDR3 motherboard. Even Intel with DDR3-2500 memory will show the same exact thing. It has nothing to do with the memory, it just means when you plug in memory, the motherboard can only read DDR3-1333 (667MHz) max. Anything above requires manual settings or XMP/EPP.

The memory tab of CPU-z shows the active settings. DRAM Frequency 800MHz is DDR3-1600. The timings below should be what the memory is.

                        Thank you
