  • GA-EX58-UD4P and F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ

    I'm a total beginner at configuring anything computer related and I can't get my ram to run at the 1600 rated speed. After looking at a thread here from a person with the same mobo and memory, I tried entering these values and ended up with nothing but my pc restarting itself and sending me to a black screen. Here is what I have and what I've done.

    Intel I7 920 C0
    Gigabyte EX58 UD4P with bios F13
    6gb F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ
    EVGA 01G-P3-1281-AR GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512-bit video card
    Windows Vista x64

    CPU Clock Ratio = x20

    BCLK = 160

    Uncore Freq. = x20
    QPI Link Speed = x36
    Performance Enhance = Turbo

    Memory Mulitiplier = x10
    XMP Profile = Profile1 (which gives the timings below)
    DRAM Timing Selectable = Auto

    CAS Latency - 9
    tRCD - 9
    tRP - 9
    tRAS - 24
    Command Rate - 2

    CPU VCore = 1.3V
    QPI/VTT Voltage = 1.55V
    CPU PLL = 1.8V
    IOH = Auto
    ICH = Auto

    DRAM Voltage - 1.56V

    What am I doing wrong?

    Is Command Rate at 2T? Do you have the latest BIOS? May want to input the base timings manually (AUTO can fluctuate) and wouldn't rely on XMP (different mobo makers implement it differently and can cause problems), What is your tRFC? What slots are the sticks in? Could you post your BIOS settings?

    Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

      What slots are my sticks in? Do you think I'm an idiot or something? Well I am. This is thoroughly embarrassing; I had the sticks in the 3,6,5 slots rather than the 1,3,5 slots. This was my first attempt at building a pc and I completely slipped up there.

      I reentered the values and the system is up and running. The command rate is 2T and I'm running the latest bios. The timings have been entered manually too. I'm not sure what/where the tRFC is located.

      Here are my bios settings.

      CPU Clock ratio: x20
      Intel Turbo Boost Tech: enabled
      CPU cores enabled: All
      CPU Multithreading: enabled

      CPU Clock Drive: 800mV
      PCI Express Clock Drive: 900mV
      CPU Clock Skew: 0ps
      IOH Clock Skew: 0ps

      Memory multiplier: x10
      CAS Latency: 9
      tRCD: 9
      tRP: 9
      tRAS: 24
      Command Rate: 2

      CPU PLL: 1.8V
      DRAM Voltage: 1.56V
      rest of advanced voltage control set to auto

      Should I make any changes? Should I run prime95 for a while to make sure I'm stable?

        Looks good, besides QPI/VTT Voltage being slightly low, but run Prime95 and see if it is stable. If not, simply increase the QPI/VTT Voltage. Also, make sure to watch CPU temps when you run burn tests.

        Thank you
