  • bad dimm or bad ram

I'm also having the same problems of getting full 6gb ram to be recognized:

    Motherboard: P6X58D Premium
    RAM: F3-12800CL7T-6GBPI (3 x 2gb)
    OS: Windows 7 x64
    CPU: i7-930

CPUz shows I have 6GB ram but post & Windows shows only 4GB. I used each stick on dimm A1 separately and each one was showing the correct amount of 2Gb.

Right now I have ram in dims: A1, A2 and C1 and it shows the complete 6GB of ram in post but obviously this is not triple channel, its running in dual. I'm thinking dimm B1 is bad but at the same time CPUz was showing 6GB in Windows. I don't know what to do. Should I RMA the board or the ram?

    Thank yoi

Do you have the latest BIOS, believe 0703? Have you tried in A2, B2, and C2 (some MCs don't read the slots correctly)? or tried running memtest on a stick in slot B1?

Also, if depending on the default BIOS settings, may want to manually input your base timings, Command Rate, and DRAM voltage.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I do have the latest bios v703. The system will not boot if I place ram in A2, B2, C2. This time I placed each ram into A1 and booted into Windows fine each time. I took apart the cpu heat sink and took out the cpu to examine the socket. It looks odd though, it seems some bent pins on the motherboard? Now I'm unable to get to post even.

      What do you think ?

          +1 to that.

Should have no problems once it is replaced. Simply enable the XMP Profile and everything should be fine, or enter the memory settings in manually.

          Thank you
