System Specs:
ASUS P7P55D Deluxe
Intel Core i5 750
G.Skill F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH
I went with that set of ram because of the low timings and it was listed in the qualified RAM for my MB. I also misunderstood the manual and didn't know I would be able to run DDR3-2000MHz with this CPU. By the time I realized I could have gone with DDR3-2000MHz it was too late. It turns out the G.Skill DDR3 2000 4GB kit is listed too, but under the list of ram for 2.8GHz and 2.93GHz CPUs.
I've spent the past couple of days getting the voltage and settings right to get the CPU stable. I can get it to 4GHz, but it runs too hot, so I've settled for 3.8GHz. I'm using 19x200 so I can set the RAM to 1600MHz. With 20x190 I either have to run it at 1520MHz or 1900MHz. I left the RAM at the recommended settings of 1600MHz @ 7-7-7-24 while ran torture tests on it.
Now that I have the CPU Prime95 stable for 2 hours, I've decided to play with the RAM. I'm betting that the 1600 CL7 RAM is the same as the 2000 CL9 RAM. I ran Memtest with them set to at 1900MHz @ 8-8-8-24 and 2000MHz @ 9-9-9-24 and they ran two passes without errors. When I ran the last Prime95 torture test tonight using 2000MHz 9-9-9-24, it stopped one thread after a while saying 0 Errors 100 Warnings.
I just now looked up the G.Kill 4GB DDR3-2000 kits and noticed their timings are 9-9-9-27 and I was using 9-9-9-24. I guess I should try those timings next, but I need sleep and can't sit through more Prime95 stress tests. I'm posting this in hopes of having some tips when I wake up on how to get the DDR3-1600 7-7-7-24 kit to run at DDR3-2000. Will boosting the voltage from 1.6 to 1.65 help, or should I stick with playing with the timings?
