Memory pair question

I have recently purchased 2 X 2gb F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ DDR3 ram modules. After a month of intermittent crashes and R/W errors with Win 7 ultimate using an Asus M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard and AMD Phenon II X3 processor, I have the issue down to one of the memory sticks. The question is, is it OK to send one stick back for replacement or are they a matched pair requiring bith to be returned for replacement. Memory is 45 days old.
