  • Will DDR3 1600 MHz work on Intel i7-2600 3.4Ghz

    Hi,

Does a DDR3 1600 MHz RAM ( 8GB x 4 = 32GB kit from Gskill) work along with i7 2600 3.4ghz as i7 has support DDr3-1066/1333 as per specs . My mobo is Asus P8Z68-V PRO(as per QVL) and currently running 16 GB Ram kit from gskill.

Kindly suggest, as I am finding it difficult to get 1333Mhz (32GB kit) in India and all vendors ask me to go for 1600 Mhz.

    Thanks

Thanks Tman for a quick reply.
But do I need to make any settings change in Mobo to use 1600 in conjunction with i7-2600 or will the mobo run 1600 as 1333 mhz ?. My requirement is physical ram as I really dont care abt the speed.
I am asking you this becoz I donot want to run into any issues wrt to CPU though Mobo specs supports this 1600 RAM.

      Thank you

With the non- 'K', for 32GB can try 1600 (if there's a problem can drop to 1333), 1333 might be better

But can I set the ram to work at 1333 instead of 1600. Is it done in the bios of mobo kindly let me know.

Yes, actually by default, may load at 1333, not sure of your mobo default
