  • Need help with new RAM

My motherboard is a MSi 790FX-GD70. My CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 965. I am running Windows 7 64bit.
    I have a set of F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ, DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 2GBx2, CC9-9-9-24 1.5.
    And I recently bought a F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL, DDR3-1600 CL10-10-10-30 1.5v, Pc3-12800 8gx1.
The problem is when I plug in the new 8G memory my monitor doesn't recieve a signal.
I have also tried removing the 2 2G and using just the 8G, but I get a "CMOS Checksum
Bad" message during start up. If I tell it to continue from there it tries to load Windows and
then just goes to a black screen. I would like the 2 2G and the new 8G to work together
giving me 12G. (Also my tech level is pretty low, so keep that in mind if trying to help.)

If I remember right, that mobo maxes at 16GB in a 4x4GB set up - doesn't take 8GB sticks unless they have done a major BIOS update

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

Update to the latest BIOS, then that should work better.

      Thank you
