  • Looking for a CL7 2x4Go DDR3 12800 for my x48 chipset

    Hello,

Somebody wants to sell me kit F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL because he upgraded to Sandy Bridge.

    I'm still on X48, P5E3 PRO with Q9650 @ 3,6 Ghz (1600 FSB).

I've tried them and they are compatible, I read somewhere that they are compatible only because each stick is made of 16x256M Integrated circuits. (4096Mb per stick).

The Ram works fine, i'm on XMP profile 9/9/9/24@ 1,5V.

But I'd like to get the best compatible G Skill for my MB, I'd like a lower CAS, ideally 7.

I saw this one and it seems promising, ticking all the boxes : F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH but I don't know if it made of 256M IC ?

The staff, or If somehow have them, can he check for me that there is 16 (8 each side) IC on each stick of F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH ?

If not, what would be the best low CAS(7) PC3-12800 4GBx2 I could get for my Motherboard P5E3 PRO ?

    Thank you very much

Not positive offhand on the individual ICs used, GSkill and most manufacturers don't publish that data, for a 1600/7 set might look at F3-12800CL7D-8GBXM another very similar set you might look to is the 1866/8 set, F3-14900CL8D-8GBXM, that should run fine at 1600/7

      Cheers for reply, I appreciate.

So F3-12800CL7D-8GBXM would be compatible? Is it OK with X48 then ? I thought Ripjaws X was for the 3rd gen processors.

If not, do you know you still sell that piece of kit F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH.

      Thank you very much

Ripjaws X were actually designed towards the 2nd Gen CPUs (Sandy Bridge) and 1155, but work fine on other platforms also (Ripjaws Z series was oriented towards 3rd Gen, but again work fine with other platforms). The Ripjaws set you mention is still in production as far as I know, though believe it's one of the sets that uses a hard to get IC

          Hello Tradesman !

          I've got the kit ! F3-12800 CL7D-9GBXM

No problem to post, but instable at the moment.

          I was perfectly rock stable with an OC 9650 @ 400 x 9 = FSB 1600 with lesser RAM F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH. (Running @ 666 Mhz)

I'm now @ 800 Mhz and Prime95 is not stable "blend" (where RAM is tested) but is stable on "Small FTT".

What kind of voltage, settings shall I move so that is could be stable.

          I've got a P5E3 Pro, bios updated.

          Timing are normal : 7 8 8 24 1,5V

          Cheers !

I'd try raising the NB voltage a tad + 0.03 and the DRAM maybe + 0.05

              Hi tradesman,

              For future reference, on P5E3 PRO + F3-12800 CL7D-9GBXM @ FSB 1600 Mhz, you need VNB@1,29V (+0,04V) and VDRAM@1,56V (+0,06V) to achieve 12 Passes without errors.

VDRAM@1,54V would come up with errors after 6 hours of MemTest.
