  • Asrock|970 extreme3 + f3-10666cl9d-8gbrl - bad ram?

    Stats:
Model of the motherboard: ASROCK|970 EXTREME3
    BIOS ver: 1.6
    Model of the memory: F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL
Model of the CPU: FX-4100 3.6G

    Issues:
    Boot issues
Stability issues (when boot is possible)
Not reading ALL RAM every time

    My Diagnostics:
I will label the RAM sticks as X and Y

    DIMM A1 B1 A2 B2
    [X] [ ] [ ] [ ]
    Result: OK (boots every time)
    RAM: 4GB

    DIMM A1 B1 A2 B2
    [X] [Y] [ ] [ ]
Result: Boots 2 out of 3 times. Other times fans and lights come on with no boot
    RAM: 8GB (3.98usable) or 8GB
Notes: if it reads all 8GB I will get a blue screen between 4 hours and 4 days.
blue screen will usually be followed by no boot.
after boot is successful, I will get the 8GB (3.98usable) issue.

    NOTES:
I have tested all of this with default bios setup.
I have not changed any settings for OC.
I am a moderate PC user/builder, but very amateur OCer.

    Clarify

    Just to clarify.
I'm guessing it is specifically a RAM issue.

I just would like to see if anyone has other ideas before I fill out a RMA.

Sounds like stick you mark as Y is marginal and/or going bad, I'd RMA or return to original vendor (depending who that was it might be faster

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:
